But the Preakness was a great race to watch.
If you've ever watched race horses, you've seen how at different points in their stride, their necks are either stretched forward or more straight up.
When the horses are side by side, but not in stride, their heads go up and down at different times. In the Preakness, that motion made the difference. Street Sense appeared to be headed for victory when Curlin found an extra gear and caught up even with him as they crossed the finish line. At the wire, Curlin's head was extended; Street Sense's was up and this was the difference. Curlin won "on the nod".
I'm looking forward to the rematch in the Belmont.
