This thread should have gotten more play. Who hasn't used ctrl-alt-del? Where would we be without ctrl-alt-del?

In 1997, three of us working for Gateway sat in a room, discussing how to make a remote control work with Windows. We made a choice not on the right way (which would've added months to our schedule) but the most convenient way at the time. Microsoft was working with us on this project, and a few years later adopted the same method for the "media" keys on their new keyboards. To this day, they're still using the same method. :)
Just a historical note on how these standards are usually developed. :)
Ctrl-Alt-Del is a lot cooler, though.
