My dog killed one in my suburban backyard this afternoon apparently. It was lying gnarled and dead on the patio under the table.

I was born and raised in Oklahoma but I never knew we had these dang things. This one was about ten inches nose to tail. Tiny little set of rattles on its tail that are basically noiseless.

I did a bit of online research and while they won't kill a feller, they'll make him mighty sick

Who knew my dog had mongoose tendencies? I don't know whether to whip his arse or thank him. The dang thing could have killed him.

Finding new critters under the porch is a long standing tradition of f'in hillbillies, bonus points if your dog kills it, lightning round if you ate it.

my brother killed a young rattler in our flower bed last spring.

and our hybrid bobcat/siamese has been seen shadow boxing the local king snake.

we're lake folk here.

inna day, my mom had a couple cats who would disappear for a couple days into the creek behind the house i grew up in....and come back with a decent size snake or lizard as a trophy. i was pretty impressed.

Leave the King snakes alone. They eat copperheads.

They're really common in the southeast (especially Florida)...to have them in Oklahoma is really rare.

probably brought here in pinatas by illegal aliens. It's a conspiracy. I read it on 911truth.org
