Neither choice is valid because of the use of the word "great," but he was an American and agree with his positions or not, I believe that in his heart, he thought he was trying to help our great republic.

It is one of those scientific polls that doesn't allow you to wimp out and vote neutral....

So did Hitler in Germany...

Exactly. In some ways, he made the Gospel seem shallow, mean, and simplistic with his political stands. But much of that might be attributed cynical media pouncing on him, like they do to most outspoken folks. Deep down, though, I think he sincerely believed in Mercy.

I'll say this, Falwell never weirded me out half as much as Pat Robertson does!

More like a Louisiana election that doesn't give you a satisfying choice.

Big Red Ron
5/15/2007, 10:17 PM
So did Hitler in Germany...WOW! Dude, I really like you but that isn't a fair comparison and I'm actually dissapointed by it.

Unless it was one of those, I forgot the winky deals.

Soonerus

I guess given the lack of voters it , is fair to say not many people feel strongly about him one way or another...

It is an extreme analogy to drive a point home to some of the denser heads on this board....

I appreciated the second opinion on tinky winky's sexual orientation, but other than that, I didn't pay attention to him.

by not wimping out you mean framing the question in such a way that one aspect of the question puts a potential respondent in a position to celebrate the death of another human being without qualification.

pass.

Damn it, I hate it when I get beat to the Teletubbies in a poll thread based on the death of a major religious figure.

I don't see how we can have "a great gain for America" by the death of anyone. Even Michael Moorer or Louis Farakan.

that's incorrect. on the SO, i've seen more than a couple deaths (even American deaths) more than a little joyously received based in "politics". the death of John Kenneth Galbraith, for one. in which many wished him to "rot in hell with that socialist FDR".

this poll had more than a little chance to turn into something like that.

and generally speaking to no one in particular: a double standard=a double standard.
