Are there any motels there?

A place to eat?

Wal-mart?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Walmart? Heh.

You'll have to go to Guymon or Liberal.

You can get lucky in Shamrock too...but that's a long drive from Hooker just to get lucky...

There's a little mexican food place in Hooker, north side of the road after you cross the main tracks. Pretty good eats.

Thanks.

We're bringing along two 22-250's, two .17HMR's, 2 AR15's, and a 10/22, a spotting scope, and about a 1000 rounds of ammo not including the .22:D

well you won't have to worry about a stray bullet hitting anything out there.

I'm driving through Hooker in June. In fact, I purposely routed my trip from Guymon on a slightly longer path than needed just so I could go through Hooker on my way to Beaver.

All I know is the school mascot is the Horny Toads. The Hooker Horny Toads. Seriously!

I've been through Shamrock...on a little highway somewheres between Drumright and Bristow. Shamrock, a speed trap.

Sure that isn't "Mr. Booger"? (Left at the Five and Dime.)

"Hooker Motel"?!?! Nothing like truth in advertising.

IIRC, if you go that way you'll also have to go through Turpin and Forgan before you get to Beaver.

Is that a bad thing? I've never been up that way, so if that is a bad idea, let me know.

No, I wouldn't say it's bad. I was just trying to show off my knowledge of Oklahoma panhandle geography. :)
Oh, by the way, the entire panhandle smells like manure, but it is what it is. Good folks up there.

On the way to work in OKC this morning my carpool buddy and I began trying to guess the names for the Hooker mascots. We came up with a few good ones. "Hooker Harlots", "Hooker Hand-jobs", "Hooker Hummers" and the "Hooker Hornblowers"

My wife was born and raised in Hooker. I've made many trips from Edmond to Hooker. Although it may seem like it, you never really do fall off the end of the earth. I hope you have a radar detector because when you drive on a highway that is straight as an arrow for over 30 miles, you will want to speed. There are three main eating joints there. Mr. Burger, a Mexican restaurant, and Pizza On Broadway (hardly ever open). You can also play 9 holes of golf for $10. It's an easy course but the greens are tiny. If you play in the evening you will be attacked by mosquitoes and Kite Hawks. Guymon and Liberal, KS are the next biggest cities for eats and movies. They are both 20 miles away from Hooker. The people are really friendly there, but if I never had to go back I would not be too sad.

I watched Hooker's girls basketball team knock out Pocola in the state quarterfinals in Midwest City two years ago. Had some pretty tall girls; I think one went to play college ball in Texas. I'm sure basketball is pretty big out there.
