Not sure if I'd want Chrysler or not.

Then what, pay tell, are you going to do with your $7.4B?

They pretty much got it for song. If they can get it going for a couple of years, they can pawn in off on the Koreans or Chinese for a nice profit. That's pretty much how Daimler got sucked in.

Chrysler's actually not a bad investment. Until the explosion of oil prices, the Dodge/Chrysler share of the market was actually pretty high. Marketwise, it's outperformed Ford and Chevy for quite some time.

The drawback of having to rebuild Chysler's engineering department is quite high though.

Does this mean Chryslers will stop sucking?

Perhaps, but Chrysler was having to go back to the drawing board since the only consistent seller right now is the minivan line since it's the most fuel efficient. They crack the fuel efficiency/hybrid market with some of their bigger names and their market share goes up.

As kids grow up, will they want to buy minivans like mom and dad drove?

I'd doubt it, but moves like the 300 and the return of the Charger were a good way to go. Like I said before, the problem they had is they were introducing these vehicles that it was once again 'cool' to own, then they got hit with skyrocketing gas prices.

Good thing that's over.
