View Full Version : I'm Going To Make An Offer On A House Today

We've been searching for a house for several months now. I've exhausted the idea of staying in Norman mainly because the market is just too inflated. About a month or so into searching we decided we wanted a Victorian era or something around that time. We finally found one. The price is right & it's structurally sound. It just needs some TLC.

Actually, it's in Holdenville. Mrs. '68 has some relatives who live there. It'll be a big move for us, but I've always wanted a house with a lot of charactor & most of this house (built in 1920ish) is original. It's got a clawfoot tub, heavy panel doors with original knobs & locks, & the hardwood floors are in good shape under the carpets. It's a perfect house for a light renovation, ie, paint, trim, decorating. The only drawback is it doesn't have central heat & air--but I would add it.

me and the future old lady got a nice little TLC type place. been working on it now and then for a few weeks.
Pulled up all of the carpet and such, now we're going to refinish the wood floors. I've got a guy coming in to paint the place and use some cool faux finishes. He's also going to paint our kitchen cabinets.
Other big projects are new counters in the kitchen and a chain link fence in the back near our carport. Good times.:)

Decide how much $$ in repairs it would take for you to walk away from the contract......and put that in your offer.

Ghosts? I hadn't thought of that. I guess when we're getting the home & termite inspections I'll get a exorcist just to be safe. :D

They've accepted our offer. Pending the results of the home & termite inspections, we'll be homeowners. :)

You should talk to PG. What she did to her room at our parents old house in Kansas was freakin' amazing. Then she did I think three of the rooms of the house we have in Norman. Nothing special, but they look good.

What simple words I uttered over 3 months ago. If I'd only know the hell that was from then 'til now I prolly wouldn't have put myself through this mess. And what a mess it was.

Long story short: We closed on the house last night. I'm officially a Holdenvillian. Holdenvillite?

Yeah. It's been bad luck for me so far on this job. I just hope the bastages have my truck done today.

BTW, they recovered the jars & are tripping out. They're pulling & inspecting each collar so it's going to take a while. They want us to pull the tool, put it in the mouse hole & inspect for obstructions. My guess they won't be ready for us until about 8-9pm

Yep, at $28 per square foot, it was quite the deal.

You can't buy a doghouse in Norman for $28/foot!
