I got Sirius satellite radio around Christmas time and haven't listened to any local stations in 5 months now. The other day I turn on The KATT and Bladerunner is gone, nobody will tell me what happened to him, and that Sisco idiot is on The Katt now. Anyone know where he went?

January 28th, 2007 Citadel Communications fires Bladerunner in an effort to save money with "downsizing".

94.7 should hire him.

He probably hates clearchannel tho

He surely wasn't the brightest light on the tree, nice voice, but only slightly smarter than a box of rocks.

I remember him on the KATT back in the early 90's. Then he disappeared for a while and came back at the end of the decade or so. Not sure I ever found out what happened that time. I figured he just ****ed of the wrong people or something. One more reason not to listen to the KATT now...

he rambled too much and what he said wasn't funny or interesting.

94.7 would never hire him. They like him about as much as I do, which isn't much. The first time he left KATT he went to New York to do Satellite radio. KATT offered him more money, plus I don't think he enjoyed Sat. as much, so he came back. I was happy to see him get shown the door.

He's got a future in phone sex for pretty much as long as he's able to talk. Other than that...

iirc, he took a job in the ATL. rumor has it that, when he was fired there, he locked himself in the booth and repeatedly played Ode to Tipper Gore on the air until security forcibly removed him.

i also know a girl that said he passed out at 31 flavors last night.

I remember years ago hearing Bladerunner on The Eagle in Dallas on weekends when he was on the KATT weekdays.

I quit listening to the KATT around 1998, their all of their DJ schtick got old especially that of Rick & Brad and Jake Daniels. Too many Howard Stern wanna-bes out there, and he ain't good either. Just one more sign of how bad corporate radio can be.

I miss the old KATT and 96X, if I am going to listen to corporate radio, it might as well not be half commercials, that is why I have Sirius now.

am I the only one that thinks if ClearChannel really wanted to downsize, they wouldn't carry 3 stations with the same format in every market? :D

that's ok, I was just going off of the myspace quote.

Citadel isn't much better than ClearChannel though.

nobody wants to hear classic rock. they want 10 stations of the same pop/urban music format in every city ;)

I've been listening to a lot of 97.3 Jack FM. No DJ's. Play a lot of new and classic stuff. The stuff you wont hear on most radios stations.

Depends on what kind of shape ClearChannel is in though. They have pulled out of a bunch of markets completely.

Which is why they got bought out by private equity. But it's nice to not have any Clear Channel stations in Nebraska anymore.

in Detroit, the sports station at least takes potshots at their ClearChannel "overlords". The local talent on at least 3 of the FM stations here have gotten more aggressive in their stances against the programming. I have a feeling that Clear Channel's backlash is going to be major when it's whipped up in enough markets by their underlings.

I would much rather work for Clear Channel than anyone else. Better benefits, etc. I used to be anti-CC, but having friends work for them, and interning for them makes me realize it's not so bad. They do have a lot of stations that sound alike, but so does every other media conglomerate out there. They take what works and use it everywhere else. Beside the KATT beating the Buzz in the ratings, CC has the highest ratings in OKC. Am I biased, yeah a little, but CC isn't so bad, plus they do play more music and less commercials than anyone.

I'm just sayin'.

What channels does CC have the highest ratings with?

Thanks! I thought a few years ago that KKNG was kicking the dog poop out of KTST and 96.1. IIRC, KTST was at the bottom of the country formats. Whoever took over there must be doing a great job.

They should only be playing six minutes of commercials an hour. They have a company policy of less is more. 3 stopsets with 2 minute commercial breaks. A lot of companies play 3 or 4 stopsets with 3 minutes of commercials. As far as DJ bumbling, I was always taught that less is more. Backsell a song, talk about the band, or maybe an upcoming event, frontsell the next song, then done. I like to hear about bands and what's going on and all, but I learned something taking some business classes, KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. They don't teach that too much at American Broadcasting School. Infact they don't teach too much of anything. Anyways, if you talk over 1 minute that's way too long.
