The post office raising rates is the succ. It's like your mother-in-law updating you every few months with her new e-mail address, alternating between yahoo, msn, hotmail. I ain't that interested in keeping up.

With online bill paying and all, I hardly ever use the USPO. Hell, I just used up last year's Christmas stamps.

NOBODY USES THE POST OFFICE ANY MORE! Raise the rates to a dollar and leave it alone for a few years!

It still will get lost. UPS and FedEx are soooooo much better than the USPS. Does the USPS make a profit? How many years out of the last ten? What do they do with their profits?

I fully understand that the USPS and the GSA are the only Federal Gov't entities setup to make a profit. Save me that speech.

Since I doubt any PO's pick up or empty the drive-through bins at the PO on Sunday, it's not likely that your letter could be postmarked prior to Midnight. Ergo, your letter is likely to be returned "Postage Due".
Of course, MAYBE they'd smile and say "Wellll, we can let this one slide."...DOUBT IT!

If it's super-secret-imperative-just-gotta-be-mailed-NLT-early-Monday and you have no .02 stamps and have no opportunity to buy some stamps in time, go ahead and waste another .39 and send a way-overstamped letter this time.

Later, call the recipient and tell them you were willing to make the sacrifice 'cause he/she/it/they mean so very, very, much to you.

i had to buy 20 2 cent stamps today when i was mailing a couple of boxes to JK2......i bought a book of the "forever stamps" and on the way home realized what a wool over the eyes that is by the post office

the theory (as far as i can tell) is that you buy the forever stamps now and hold on to them for when the price of stamps go up in the future........but 99.8% of people will use those damn things before then

I too pay most of my bills online but the ones that I do mail will get two .39 stamps because waiting an hour at the post office for .20 worth of stamps is a waste of time for me. If I can pay $3 plus for a gallon of gasoline, then wasting an extra stamp isn't gonna kill me.

They should just make the stamps .50 and be done with raising rates for a few years.
