With so many recruits wanting to play right away is redshirting driving away some kids to certain schools? (Of course I am assuming they are healthy enought to play)

I think schools like Florida, USC, Texas, and OU have proven that putting freshman on the field if used properly can be successful. So why reshirt when kids are wanting to leave early to the NFL?

[crickets chirping] :D

Depends on the player, I guess. Some guys like tommie Harris and AD were physically built for the game immediately, whereas guys like Murray needed time in the system and conditioning program.

i had heard that Bobby Bowden and some other coaches were pushing for 5 years of eligibility and no redshirts, medical or otherwise along with the permanent addition of the 12th regular season game

haven't heard much about it recently though

It seems to me that before the current scholly limit (95) and when freshmen were ineligible, there were more players redshirting.
