I have been looking for a good weather radio/public alert radio with SAME technology but have had no luck at places like target & wal-mart. Does anyone know who might sell these locally?

I can purchase one online but would really like to do business locally.

Thanks.

Radio Shack usually has some that do the job.

Here's one. (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2170274&cp=2032052&pg=1&searchSort=TRUE&f=Taxonomy%2FRSK%2F2032052&y=12&retainProdsInSession=1&categoryId=2032052&x=13&kw=weather+radio&kwCatId=2032052&s=A-StorePrice-RSK&parentPage=search)

Here's another. (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2224791&cp=2032052&pg=1&searchSort=TRUE&f=Taxonomy%2FRSK%2F2032052&y=12&retainProdsInSession=1&categoryId=2032052&x=13&kw=weather+radio&kwCatId=2032052&s=A-StorePrice-RSK&parentPage=search)

I've seen others that are more robust with features beyond what these two have, but if you are purely looking for the warning capability, these do the job for the best price.

One more bit of info: you will need to know your FIPS code so you can program the radio to alert you for your location only. The first event I experienced in 1998 with my radio had me awake all night for warnings for everywhere but Oklahoma County. FIPS Codes can be found here. (http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/indexnw.htm)

Hope this helps!

Willie, thanks for the heads up. I was aware of the codes as I heard of your initial problem. I'll give Radio Shack a looksie later this evening.
