It's not pretty.

Here's what it looked like after being righted:

Not a scratch on Mrs. OUinFLA. God blessed us today.
She said the seat belt locked her up tight immediately, the side airbags deployed on impact as well.
The car rolled over at least once.

We thanked the Lord over and over and then we went car shopping.
After going through this wreck, we decided that another Mercury Mariner was a pretty good choice.
Thank goodness we are firm believers in seat belts. And now I am a firm believer in side-impact airbags.

Old guy ran a stop sign on a road near our house. The intersection has been the scene of a lot of accidents in the years we have lived here. I try real hard to avoid the intersection.

Glad she's safe. It looks as the Mariner took quite a lick.

old dude was 64 and taking his wife to the hospital.
had been stopped behind a garbage truck for a bit, then after the truck went through the intersection he came up to it from about 20 yds back. Being in a hurry, he says he looked but didnt see her car. (we're thinking a brighter color might be wise, perhaps neon Yellow with flashing strobe lights on the front) and just pulled out turning right.

She was half way into the intersection and couldn't swerve fast enough to miss him. She was going about the speed limit which is 40 on the road she was traveling. Thankfully there was a good Samaritan coming from the opposite direction who saw the whole thing, called 911 and rushed to see if she was OK. She had her cell in her lap and it stayed there somehow and she called me as soon as she stopped skidding. I was about 6 minutes away by the speed limit. I made it there in 3 minutes or so.

Pretty scary.

i find that ironic that he was taking his wife to the hospital and almost sent your wife there instead.

And, no, I didnt go off on the old dude. He was very remourseful about the event. He cut his hand trying to pull glass out of our car trying to see if he could help my wife in any way. I guess I would feel differently about him if she had been hurt. Thankfully, I dont have to dwell on that issue.

Wow! No cuts or bruises? I'm so glad it wasn't worse.
She is going to be sore tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm thinking lots of TLC is in order.

Seriously.

Wow. Nice to see that the side impact bags worked like they were supposed to. We have those on our Sequoia, and I'm glad to know they work.

Very glad to hear your wife is okay. Any whiplash or stuff like that?

i thought this was OUinFLA's way of saying he wrecked his wife's car :D

you know, if it wasn't an SUV it may not have rolled...

Subaru's have side airbags too ;)

glad she's ok, i'd probably still send her to the doc to be sure though. i still feel the effects of my last wreck, and i didn't roll over or anything
