View Full Version : What to do with a bad housewarming gift?

My best friend bough me a recliner for my new house. While that's a very nice gesture I just I don't like the recliner. It's a greenish color. My living room is painted like JK's kitchen, dark red walls and white trim. It's also too small for me.
Do I return it? Do I just suck it up and make it work? Could I put it in another room other than the living room?
I was planning on just getting a couch and a loveseat for my living room. Heck, if I wanted to put a recliner in there I would have moved my leather Lazy-Boy from my trailer to my house.

Slap them in the face.
Nobody gives a recliner without asking first.

isn't it weird to buy someone a large piece of furniture without checking to see if they need/want one?

I covered that part in my previous post.
Would you have a different question for me?

yes, that is weird. and since it's your best friend, i think you should be able to tell said friend that you'd rather have something else.

Use it as a sex chair in your yellow bedroom.

Tell him you saw cockroaches crawling out of it and that you think it should go back to the store it was bought from.

Buy a slipcover for it that matches your decor.

Straight single guys don't care if the furniture doesn't match the decor.
I'm just sayin'...

a recliner? as a gift? I bet he just wanted to get rid of it and wanted to save on having to buy a gift. Was it used? Did it have tags on it?
That is one of the strangest gifts I have ever heard of.
You have strange friends.....which makes perfect sense.
