I just bought an adorable puppy 4 week old male being delivered on the 29th this month so he is old enough to take from his parents. I have owned a Rotty in the past but he was a bit smaller around 105 pounds. This one Diesel is projected to be around 140 pounds.

Any suggestions for obedience, care and socialization is appreciated. He is adorable right now but will be a giant when he is grown up.

I am getting a little nervous now after reading up- again I have had one before and thought it may have been the best dog I ever owned.

Hunting and Fishing? are they good in this arena?

Information like that would be appreciated as I am like a kid in a candy store right now.

I have a rottie puppy and have had a couple of them before..my best advice is to socialize your puppy as much as you can around other people and animals..get some obidience training by a professional..they are great dogs

Great, I live in a place with alot of other dogs as nieghbors so it should be easy to socialize him often here and at the dog parks as a pup. They are georgeous dogs.

Congrats.

I'd really like to get a rottweiler . . . but I want a bigger yard and would probably need to talk my wife into it. She's not too wild about 'em.

I am seeing a lot more good press than bad press- one common theme is they are not for the timmid owner and need to know who the boss is at an early age. They can be very intelligent and get bored easily. I work from home these days thankfully with beltway traffic so I think I can handle it at a young age and make sure it is well behaved because it will be a big one. Dad 140 mom 120

The one I had as a kid - followed me wherever I went never left my side and did not even need a leash. Of course laws have changed these days and I was living in an underdeveloped nieghborhood in Edmond.

I am sure Diesel will get some discrimination in the PC area of washington DC but thats OK.

I want to be your buddy, because if you are importing dogs from Hungary, you have more money than you can spend all by yourself. :)

Soonerbrat pretty much summed up what you gotta do. I live in the country and Brutus has been a very good dog for us. He will stare down new people that come around the property and looks intimidating, but he has never growled at or even attempted to bite anyone. Animals on the other hand..... Many have fallen victim as he is very territorial, its weird because he seems to know that the barbed wire fence is the property line and if anything crosses that line that isn't ours, he's gonna get it. I've seen him catch a deer before  and he's even taken down a 500lb momma cow after she got after him for chasing her calf. (he got into some trouble with pops and grandpa for that one) Of course, you won't deal with anything like that in the city, so as long as you can keep it from jumping over/digging under your fence, you should have a good companion for many years:cool:

I paid probably about a 400$ premium for him - but saves me all the interviews and things of that nature that I don't really have time for. Really just airfare and his crate... what is the easiest way to download his picture if I were to copy paste?

you paid $400 plus airfare and crate? Why did you decide to get a dog from overseas? because they are bigger? Just curious. My mom & I split the $600 for our "little" guy. he is such a sweetheart, but I am pretty sure he will look REALLY mean when he gets bigger.

No just Airfare and crate little less than 400! Yeah it is tough in VA- I could not find a lot of local breeders out here with available males and he caught my eye- this one was about 1400 but I am sure I paid a mark up. He really caught my eye though and the fact that he was definitely going to be the big of the litter.
