One of my friends who is about to graduate with his MBA really promotes investing in a good mutual fund when you're in college. He did a lot of research and shopped around a bit before choosing his. I wish I knew what he went with, but I don't off the top of my head.

seriously though, i've got a stock story. i just signed up on a stock sim site a couple of weeks ago that runs weekly contests for cash/prizes. you start with $100K, and the contest runs M-F. http://www.bigsmarty.com/

last week, the winner's portfolio on friday afternoon was $223K. unbelievable.

same dude is at $133K in 2 days this week. looks like he's holding BE Aerospace (BEAV) right now.
