Where do you go to buy nice sheets? Linens & Things and Bed Bath & Beyond seem like logical places but are the any others?

i buy the t-shirt sheets at Target. they are inexpensive and 100% cotton. otherwise, you pay through the nose for anything that doesn't have some poly blend and i like 100% cotton.

Thanks KC, I'll check out the t shirt sheets. I'm assuming that they feel just like a t shirt?

Wait for August. That's when everyone has their white sales and you can get sheets for mondo cheapo.

And I'll second at least 600 thread count. You'll pay for it, but the difference is noticeable.

Well, as a single guy I gotta fend for myself. Unless your wife wants to go pick me up some sheets and a bedspread. ;)

Agree. Got mine at Linen n Things. I never thought about thread count, but it makes a huge difference. Throw in a down (feather) matress -100 bucks and throw your sheets over that....you'll sleep 14 hours a day.

My wife and I bought 400 or 600 (edit: after reading Brat's post, I think they were closer to 1000 count) count king size sheets there for something like $100, which is pretty good. Thread count makes all the difference. You'd have to try it before you realize how much of a difference.

i have some 1000 thread count sheets on my bed...they are so soft and comfy i HATE getting out of bed. I have some 600 TC ones also, and they're pretty nice, but I never use them.

I've got some 1.5 million thread count sheets and celebrities stop by the house just to spoon with me.

They don't even mind being stabbed my my belly hairs.

Not only should you look at thread count, but, you also have to look at whether the sheets are single ply or double ply. If it's a double ply sheets, the manufacturer is basically taking two threads of cotton and weaving them together. That artificially inflates the thread count, but, you are getting a heavier (albeit, more durable) sheet.

If you can find 600 thread count, single ply sheets, they are going to actually feel softer than a 1000 thread count, double ply sheet. Naturally, you have to wash them a number of times to have them soften.

Don't scrimp on the mattress pad as well. Like sheets, they also have thread counts.. but, you don't have to go crazy with an outrageously high thread count mattress pad.

as for polyester.. NEVER... NO... Polyester should never touch one's body at night, during the day.. never! It is evil.

A good quality goose down comforter is a requirement as well.

Here in town, look into Peacock Alley Retail Store, 4311 Oak Lawn (they tend to be a bit pricey, but have great, quality merchandise)... Horchow and Horchow Outlet also have a good selection of quality bedding.

You spend a lot of time in the rack.. for both sleeping and recreational purposes... There is no substitution for good quality.

Dean prefers a 1 thread count sheet. He coils a rope on the bed and sleeps on it. ;)

My wife dropped a bundle in Steinmart this year. I don't know a lot about that stuff, but they were pretty nice. We got the kids stuff at Target, it has held up okay.

I'm also looking to purchase a new bed frame or whatever you call the actual wooden structure the box spring and mattress sit on.

I like the looks of sleigh and platform types
