What about mosquitoes? They feed bats, so what? (BTW, what you got there is a channel cat soaked in molasses)

Actually that is a Chimaera. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimaera_(fish))

And it is "prehistoric" or at least in the sense that it is pretty likely that it may share anscestry with sharks occuring in the Devonian period. Modern sharks and chimaeras were likely derived from these distinct anscestors in the Jurassic period.

Another interesting fact about chimaeras is that one of their claspers (shark penis) is located on its head.

Hey, its what I do.Is it more prehistoric than the coelacanth(sp?)? BTW, Coelacanths are great baked, with an apricot glaze.

prehistoric coelocanths diverged in the devonian also, the modern versions likely diverged sometime in the late devonian to early Permian about 80-200 million years before the modern versions of chimeras. So they originated around the same time, but the modern versions were derived in slightly different environments. There were a lot of coelocanthlike species that went extinct a long time ago. Pretty cool stuff.
