He isn't able to go over the middle. That's drastically limits his utility. You don't spend first rounders on kick return specialists.

I think Cleveland had a very solid draft. I think that with their off-season addition of Steinbach and the drafting of Thomas and Quinn they could improve offensively in a flash. Finding a RB that can churn out 1250 yards isn't really that hard. Now I know that we should all hate Cleveland because they had the audacity to pass on AD due to ESPN's negative campaigning, but I think they done alright.

Oh cry me a freaking river, JK!

Miami was in DESPERATE need of a QB this year. Their receiving corps was average at best, but their bigger need was the QB. The WR picks this year were a hell of a lot more plentiful than the decent QB's (I count five: Russell, Quinn, Beck, that guy from Stanford and Kolb). Brady Quinn fell right into their lap...so what did they do?

PASS!

If they didn't have huge doubts about his numbers and production against REAL teams while he was a Domer, they'd have been up on the Commissioner's *** with that piece of paper the moment they were on the clock. But they didn't.

But hey, thanks for the negspek though. It was greatly appreciated.

i think just looking at miami's draft tells you that they're working under a salary cap.....the passed up on quinn in favor of john beck who will be cheaper

i'll defer to the folks on the dolphins staff as to what their actual draft needs were.....i really dont know, nor do i care

i just think the thread itself smacks of stupidity...same as the "dear USC' thread.....you know, while we've been lucky to have a first rounder the past 4-5 years, there were MANY years we didnt have anybody drafted in ANY rounds

glass houses being what they are and all

Oh, and why the http://www.soonerfans.com/forums/images/reputation/reputation_neg.gif for my comment earlier, folks? I was simply stating that you have to be a damned lucky player to get drafted by your life-long favorite team. Especially when they pass on you with their first pick. There is absolutely no reason to say that was anything other than lucky. If I got accepted to OU onFB scholarship, got my *** kissed by all National Media, stayed healthy, got into the BCS (probably undeservingly) as a starting QB, and then got drafted to my favorite pro-team... let's just say Dallas for reference... how is that not lucky? Seriously, I challenge you... tell me how it is not. And by "lucky" I mean "fortunate." Not magic or superstition.

Nothing against them... I was just looking for a quick answer. My question wasn't rude, or in any way wrong. I do believe recruiting is scouting and offering... then waiting for a kid to decide where he want to go. Whereas, "drafting" puts the "best players" on the worst teams to attempt to balance them out. I know there's not a robot that does this, and there is player evaluation to some extent... but come on... there is an OBVIOUS difference. If there was a CFB draft... the Baylors and Middle Tennessee States of the country would get first pick in scouting their future talents.

No, collier is right, you are a jackass. And please don't tell someone with 10x as many posts as you that he shouldn't be there. I think he understands reason a little better than you and your 50-year old grudge.

Just because I don't post doesn't mean that I am not here. And, the las time I looked, this country said I had the right to say what I think, its called "freedom of speach". So, I'll say what I want to say to whom I want to say it, when I want to say it and I won't have to use abusive words to do it, unlike collier and yourself.:D

Relating your first amendment right to an internet message board is a very solid defense. You should probably take this issue to court.

I'm betting Quinn will not be in the NFL in 5 to 6 years.

I do think he'll get a starting position but it won't last long.

Quinn seems like he might be a pretty durable guy, however I think he'll get punished playing for the Browns.

I wish him well in his career as he'll need it.

50-year old grudge.

Ummmm, I still hate ND.  And the ND lovin' media really ticks me off.
I don't particularly care for BQ, just because of his ND roots. I mean he chose to go there.
That said, I can separate my history of hatred for all things ND from the kid. I do feel that he was set up by the media and that's sad - even for a ND kid.

And remember to respect your elders. ;)

You know, if you have to use words like your last one above, you really do need help in learning how to express yourself. You could simply say that you think that I am wrong and I would certainly understand what you mean. I haven't found it necessary to call you or anyone else here a "badname" to be able to express myself. If you can't disagree with someone without using terms of abuse on here, maybe you should not be on here. Brady Quinn is from ND, and, YES, you should! Enough said.

Lets get something straight...first of all, I have every right to call you a jackazz because if I remember right, your exact quote was "If you were any type of a sooner fan, you wouldn't want anyone from ND to have success because they stopped our 47 game winning streak. You must be a farely new person on the sooner bandwagon and don't have any idea of the football history at OU." This shows your idiocy! To make a blanket statement about someone as a Sooner fan because I dont hate Brady Quinn just because he went to ND is just plain STUPID! I hate ND, I despise all the attention they get just for being ND, but Brady Quinn has nothing to do with that and for you to say that I am a bandwagon fan just cus I dont hate him is stupid, idiotic, and blatantly ignorant!!!

Saying what you want when you want is your right. But the 1st amendment doesnt protect you from being called an idiot which is what you are based on this argument!!!

(QUOTE) i never said i liked him......but i reserve hate for things that matter in life, not some 20 year old kid that plays for a school that beat us 50 years ago

i'm 43 years old, i was raised on sooner football....i've been a fanatic since I was 8 years old...if those credentials arent enough for you, then too bad

i really dont care what kind of fan you "think i am"

You mean the longest winning streak in NCAA Div. I football history is not worth reserving some hate for the team (and anyone who plays for them) who ended it? As a life long sooner fan of 63 years: I feel that if it isn't worthwhile, what is? Maybe it will be to you in another 20 years.[/QUOTE]

When your whole basis for liking Ou is the pretty colors on their jerseys, then you have no right to tell us who to hate! I hate ND cus they are ND and they are celebrated for being ND, I dont hate them for stopping our streak, maybe we shouldnt have geen beaten by a lesser team! maybe they shouldnt have beat us before the streak and we wouldve had a 48 game winning streak!

I did not say a young person could not be a Sooner fan, but that you need to learn your Sooner history and know the teams you don't want to see win any games or the people who play for them.

I'm with you. I'd be happy if ND never won another game. Miami and Texas too. And while I don't wish their players the worst, I have to admit that I enjoyed seeing Quinn fall in the draft more than I would have enjoyed seeing it happen to about any other quarterback this year.

But still..."Dear Brady Quinn, you suck. Signed, Most NFL teams" is a bit of a stretch.

A) He was a first round draft pick...not every team even had a chance to pass on him.
B) A team is going to pay him millions to play for them.
C) Our own Jason White went undrafted just a couple of years ago. "Dear Jason White, you suck. Signed, Most NFL teams" is something I would've expected to see on an OSU message board. And while it would've been just as un-classy there, at least they would've had a little more evidence to back up the claim.

My point was that I have no reason to wish bad for Quinn just because he played for ND. Some on here are saying he was cocky and full of himself and I never saw that, he always seemed to be a hard working and classy guy that people wanted to fail just cus he was from ND. I dont want ND to succeed, but now that he is out of school I dont wish him any bad luck!

Can I get a ruling from the powers-that-be on my reason for hating Brady Quinn?

I'm still sick of Sports Illustrated cramming Mirer down our throats with about 20 cover stories - "Mirer - the next coming." "Mirer, just around the corner." "Look, it's Mirer." "Mirer - didn't win, but he'll come around." "This is Mirer's year." "Mirer - what went wrong?" "Mirer - a comeback?" "Mirer - best QB in the draft in a decade." "Mirer - what went wrong?"

Jus feels like deja vu all over again.
