Compared to poultry and fish, that is. Is it the fat content? Is low-fat red meat as good as poultry?

they can't kill the rats that eat a large portion of their grain for the same reason.

I've always wondered why the Chinese Restaurant sold "Calcutta Beef". Sounds like an illegal dish to me.

That's what I've heard, too. I once made the mistake of trying to sell some all-beef summer sausage to some dot-not-feathers for a fundraiser one time. :O

the funniest damn thing was while at fort knox, a saudi family living in government quarters, slaughtered a lamb right in their backyard for a feast.....of course the lamb made a few noises in protest.....which alerted the entire military neighborhood to call 911

good times.......

bacteria is on the surface.

On a steak, that's just the outside, but for ground beef, all of it has been surface at some point.

mmm... E. coli

depending on the level or whatever of the Hindus, some of them are vegetarians, i think it has some to do with age

My understanding is that is because e-coli grows in the meat grinders.

Would not surprise me. I used to make hamburger one summer at the local grocery store. Huge reason I like my steak cooked pretty good. Its not the most appetising thing to see.

I've actually seen sausage made several times. It's not nearly as disgusting as having to look at 30,000+ Texas fans clad in puke orange in the CB every year in Dallas......especially if you have a hangover.

I think it's that red meat is supposed to be really hard on the digestive system. I file that right along with anti-bacterial soap, over-cooking your burgers, and making your kid wear some dopey nerf-football looking helmet to ride his Huffy down the driveway. The general pussification of America. You gotta have some bacteria around to have any resistance to it. Vegetarians that are too strict can get laid up for a week from a good cup of french onion soup made with stock.

It's still OK to wear sunscreen though. ;)

I just hope red wine is its accomplice.

That's bold talk right now.

On the way to the emergency room the thought of cutting back a little doesn't seem out of line.

To get back to the original question:
Red meat, in general, is higher in fat than turkey and chicken. The fatty foods cause the gallbladder to release bile to aid in digestion. If you eat a low-fat meal, your sick gallbladder doesn't have to do much and it doesn't bother you. If you eat fried cheese, pepperoni pizza, etc, then you go to the ER. Since you don't have a GB anymore, party on. ;)

sanantoniosooner
4/25/2007, 09:40 PM
It was 3 slices of pan pizza that sent me to the ER.
