(from the link Yermom provided)

"One thing I do appreciate is the strength of the Black and Brown people of this country. One more attack from the white man is not going to deter them. A lie is a lie no matter who spouts it. An insult is an insult. That being said lets try to get Rush off our airwaves. Contact his sponsors and boycott his channels. I do not get him where I live and would not listen even if I did. There must be a way to rid our country of this blight on humanity."

Oh yeah, there must be a way to silence the opposition to socialism!

Personal responsibility?
Individual liberty?

Free market economies?

I'm not saying everyone should agree 100% with the guy. But you make it sound like EVERTHING "he spews" is b.s.

I thought you didn't listen to him. So how can you claim that about his statements? The reason the libz don't have shows that can come close to rush, hannity, boortz, savage, etc... is that they cannot discuss and defend their points with logic.

Boortz would seem to fit in well for all the people who claim to be libertarians. He's an athiest and he's pro-abortion rights. I mean, alot of people here say they're not liberals, but at the same time they hate Republicans because of the Religious Right, and Rush is bad because of this or that...Okay, then try listening to Neal Boortz and if you can't stand the guy, it probably means you should switch over to Air America. actually, there was talk about the Fairness Doctrine before the Imus thing. there was a thread about it right here on the SO about, maybe, 2 months ago.

the FD is an anachronism based in the idea that in the age of broadcast media since there was spectrum scarcity contrasting views (or for most people today: "both sides") should be available on the public airwaves. with the proliferation of cable, internet, etc....the scarcity argument won't hold water.

However, the FD is basically the same rationale as FOX's motto: Fair and Balanced. So, pick yer poison carefully.

IIRC, Rush was taking bets on how long it would take for the phrase to be attributed to him, and of course he wasn't disappointed.

The people who don't listen to him and bash him to no end really have no idea what they're talking about. Hannity on the other hand is a whiny, talking point spewing, boring, broken record. He's unlistenable.

i didn't attribute that to him, but that clip isn't exactly racially sensitive, it sounds like an aural version of blackface imitating Al Sharpton

i'd think that anyone airing that clip on their show would be pretty irresponsible

You are right I don't listen to him. Because I can't stand his method of delivery. His stammering alone is akin to nails on a chalkboard to me. Blame it on the fact that I actually took a course that spent a period of time focusing on proper public speaking. Stammering unless you have a speech impediment is a sign that you have nothing to say at that moment and it's a pathetic attempt to fill dead air The same thing with anyone who says "um, uh, er" a lot in a conversation as well.

So yes, in a way his show *is* humor to me, namely because people are willing to hang on every word he says.

I wouldn't really call hosting a radio show that is almost 100% unscripted and off the cuff as public speaking, but that's just me.

I don't listen to his show everyday, not even close, but I have noticed the last few years that he does stammer a little more than he used to many years ago. It might have something to do with his pronounced hearing loss, and he has to wait for the screen that transcribes what people are saying to him (can't think what the thing is called right now) to catch up so he knows what is going on.

bummer on the hearing loss issue I guess. Problem is he stammers when he's going into a 10 minute long digression of something not involving an interview or caller, which leads that it at least starts as something scripted.

I think the stammering is for effect, I can't recall the technical term for it. But I think it is the same as when he crumbles/crinkles paper to emphasize something he is going to read. I understand what you mean Scott, but with radio being a sound medium, there is few others ways to emphasize your point other than making some sort of sound.

Or he could just be a lousy communicator (which I doubt) or he could have problems with the teleprompter or what ever his transcription service is called.
