I have a four hour final tonight and if the roof gets torn off the building, that would be fine by me.:D

Unfortunately perhaps, Tulsa has that severe weather forcefield to protect us.

There were strangers in the streets that night
Preacher cried out hell's been raised
Another hot Oklahoma night
Another hot Oklahoma night
The kind of night where you just sit still
The kind of night where you just don't move
We were shaking in our beds that night
We were shaking in our boots that night
Tornado hit and the roof gave way
Tornado hit and all we could do was pray

What are the chances of Boone's Farm Stadium surviving an F3 like tornado?

It's about time they issued some kind of watch. The storms in SW Oklahoma have been going to town for more than an hour now.

Isn't this a good thing as far as tornados go?

I predict zero to two tornados in the Oklahoma border. None over an F1, even though they will be claimed to be an F3 or more.

Define "good". That probably doesn't mean the same thing for you as it does for weather weenies. :D

Squall lines are less favorable for tornados than isolated supercells, and the ones that do form are smaller and don't last as long. Usually if there are going to be supercells, they'll happen before the squall line develops...but not always.

But more straight line winds are involved with squall lines, right?

Yep. I'm way too into storms to be normal. I probably missed my calling to be a meteorologist. When the storms start brewing, I'm either on my porch watching them come in or I'm watching the local channels track them.

geez, if the majority of Oklahoma gets as excited about this kind of weather as most on this board do, I really need to move to Oklahoma :D

I always get excited when I hear that this kind of weather is heading our way - and it is cool when I am driving home as the storms are approaching and you can see the storm clouds and stuff off in the distance. I usually just sit and watch it all on TV to see if anyone catches anything worth seeing (we don't have a very good vantage point to see anything from our house)...Meteorology has always fascinated me, especially in the kind of weather you guys are getting...

That's a good bet, too.

This squall line is just appetizer. There should be more fireworks later this afternoon. If the sun comes out after the line moves through it will get very interesting.

I remember a couple of years ago we were having some bad weather and it was approaching American Idol time...The genuises at Fox had the idea to fix it so that the weather guy was in a little box on the screen and AI was in another little box on the other side of the screen. You could hit the sap(?) button to toggle and listen to either the weather or American Idol...

My town and a neighboring town have gotten 4 tornadoes this year, 3 in the same day. How has it been going down there?

from your NWS and SPC pages....doesn't look like there has been too much this year. We only had the 4/3 and 4/11 so far in IND.

Luckily, Gary was on the tv the whole time.

JUst weaken it a little, but not enough to allow tornadoes to wipe out the campus.

Then, as part of phase II, put in ANTI bubbles over Austin and The Boone nosepicken Farm.:texan:

About the time my middle child sent me a message that they were being sent home early due to the tornados. <shaking head> If there had really been a tornado, I would be mad.
