So, anyway, I just got a call from the Wichita Grand Opera. They need a second trombone for Romeo and Juliet next week. What has two thumbs and got the gig? This guy.

Heh. Wichita's opera company is relatively new. They only do about 5 shows a year, but from what I've heard they do pretty well when they're using house musicians. I heard of one show they did where the entire cast and orchestra came in from somewhere in Eastern Europe and everyone said that orchestra was terrible, though the singers were really good.

Yes, performances are in the hall at Century II. I think the cheap seats are $30 if they have any left. ;) And I don't have to rent a tux - I already own two of my own. :D
