I've been volunteering thru Blue HAWK (Helping Animals With Kindness) in Norman. We have adoptions every week. This organization uses foster homes (instead of a kennel) and the are always looking for more. Yesterday I bailed this little gal out of the pound and took her home. If for some reason she gets along with my chihuahua (doubtful), then I'll keep her. Otherwise I'll put her up on Blue HAWK's website and take her to the weekly adoptions. I really wanna keep her though!

Her pound given name is Fay. Not sure of it yet though. She's about 8 months old. Last night I took her on a walk, it was obvious she had never been on a leash before. She tried to chase EVERY car, person, etc that went by and nearly choked herself trying. Today I'm gonna get a halter and try that whole walk thing again.

She DEVOURS her food, must've starved as a pup. She did good last night, slept thru, not too much howling. It's gonna be an adventure for sure.

That is AWSOME!!! Good on ya...we are Foster PArents for the National Bulldog Rescue Chapter here in Portland. We held on to Milo last year...It just seems that these animals that had it rough, really appreciate what a good home can do for them...

my old lady has 2 dogs from the shelter and one more that just showed up at our house out here by the lake.

problem with the dogs from the shelter is the chance of them having distemper.

Thanks, I wish I could give him treats like that (Fun for the whole family there with the PB) The previous owners only fed him Table scraps, no dog food. So he developed quite a few allergies to foods, had very little hair, a bunch of infections and only weighed 50 lbs when we got him. Now he is almost 80 lbs and almost show quality...MHO, but I am Bias

I may need to try and make it a family event with my dogs and PB, it may spice up some things around the bedroom.

Good on ya! And I have to be a proud momma and show my babies. All of my babies were rescued with the exception of Trixie, someone dumped her on our road. They sure missed out on a wonderful little girl, God bless 'em.

I know you should not choose (a breed) when thinking of these kinds of things but if any of you are interested in English Bulldogs, and want to adopt in your area...here is the site
http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/

I have owned many breeds, but Bullies own my heart!

oh yeah and thank you all for the Spek!

Apply on the site...I started getting Bullies in less that 2 weeks...it has been a blast and Milo has been a Great "Pack Leader" for the others we have had since adopting him. All they ask is that when you are searching the nest to go on your local Humane Society or Animal shelter Web sites and look for any dog with Bulldog blood, any mix will do, and then notify the local chapter, might be in a different state, mine is in Washington.

But be warned, the Bully breeds are just that if you let them. But if you train and love them well, they are one of the most loyal and protective breeds out there. Just a little rough the first week or so during the "Breaking Period". You really don't use that term on other breeds when it comes to training but with Bullies you do. They just want a shot at being Boss, but when they finally realize your in charge is when the change happens and it is like a light switching on.

But yes if any of you would like to adopt (any Breed) I encourage you to do so. Just know what your getting into, and do your research, no matter the breed.

Night two went pretty well. The walk was about the same, but later a friend of mine came over and we stayed outside in the back yard with her for quite a while. She has NO clue what to do with a tennis ball or a rope toy...she just wants attention instead of playing. Last night I went out and sat on the porch swing, she got up in my lap, she THINKS she's a lap dog. HEH! A little more dog than I'm used to! She still acts like she's STARVING. I feed her about 1.5 cups of food 2x a day, then treats in between. Is this too little? She scarfs it down immediately and always acts like she wants more.

That is one good looking pup. Keep her, name her "Lady" and let her take up residence under the porch...chasin' away squirrels, racoons, other dogs, and revenuers!

got home to 3 of my window screens being torn off and scattered about the back yard. thing is though, that I'm getting all of my new windows in about a month so I really don't care. Hopefully she'll either be trained (or adopted out) by then.

She's settling down a LITTLE, but still no manners to speak of.

I bought a big bag of puppy food tonight, damn, that **** is spensive! I'm used to a tiny bag every few months!! Oh well, she's worth it.

she's had to spend the night in the garage the last 2 nights cause she will NOT STOP BARKING. I'm sure my new neighbors love me already. She does OK in the garage, cept for peeing and pooping everywhere. I've had to wash the garage floor both mornings. I prolly have the cleanest garage floor on the block.
