i use edonkey. but its kind of difficuld to use. limewire was ok. i did have pro for about 6 months, waste of effin money.

i use bittorrent for videos but limewire for songs.

We have a Gal here in the news who's son is facing 72 counts, worth at a minimum 15 Grand each for copyright infringement...

I'm curious why Limewire even exists. Napster was forced to start charging for downloads or else shut down, right?

just search 'lime wire pro' in their own search engine, and dload it. worked for me, but I really couldn't tell any difference.

(beat them at their own game..lol)

Limewire is just fine to use as long as you turn off the sharing feature. eDonkey, on the other hand, is a bad bittorrent client which forces you to upload as you download and, thus, will get you sued if they catch you.

Don't let your son use any programs that require you to upload as you download. Turn off all sharing features and set all upload slots to 0.

Finally, don't let anyone tell you that downloading stuff on the internet is stealing or theft of any sort. Copyright infringement and theft are completely separate things.

if everyone using Limewire or similar programs all turn off sharing, wont that render the software useless? I guess by not sharing your own files you fly under the radar but when everyone else starts doing this, there wont be any files available for download, correct?

yep, that's why you can't find crap on there anymore...

but there are also lots of people that never change the setting are are sharing everything they have ever downloaded because they have no idea

BRILLIANT! i never even thought of that. i did get my parents the newest version for their in-car navigation thing. i was suprised it was on there.

well hell, there's no point in paying $50/month for it when there are about 6 wireless routers around me, right?
