I'd like to become fluent in Espanol, I can speak Spanish fairly well now(enough to get by)
Are these programs worth it?
I'd like to try it. I need to relearn it cause my HS Spanish teacher was ghey dude that coached ladies tennis and golf. So everytime I say something in espanol, I speak with a lisp.

It may not have anything to do with being gay. In some regions of Spain that's how they talk. They call it the ceceo - the sound of z or c (when followed by i or e) is pronounced as a "th" sound. Common in Andalusia, I believe.

It's "chorizo" ya' ****in' gavacho.
I have the Rosetta Stone spanish CDs. Levels 1 & 2. And yes, you can learn to speak spanish - if you'll do the following:
1. Actually go through each and every lesson. About 10-15 times per.
2. Start to think in spanish whenever possible. A serious conscience effort.
3. PRACTICE. You need to find other spanish speakers to converse with.
4. Watch messican TV whenever you can. Listen closely and try to connect nouns/verbs into context and meaning.
5. PRACTICE.
6. PRACTICE.
7. PRACTICE.
It's not a magic pill or silver bullet. It still takes a lot of work.

Heh. Learning a foreign language is a lot like learning magic. When I do my magic thing there's always a ton of kids (and adults) who go "dude, teach me how you did that. I wanna be a magician. That's so cool. Do you know how often I could get laid if I could do that trick?"
I alway say "go **** up a rope." The 1% of people who have the drive/motivation to get proficient at it will figure it out on their own. My own kids get ****ed at me when I won't teach them illusions. Why? Cause they want to learn a single trick or two for the sole purpose of being "cool." If they had a true passion for magic then I'd help them. I've helped a co-worker's kid learn several illusions - and now he's a hell of a lot better/advanced than I am because he does it all the time and is passionate about it. Learning spanish is the same thing. Lots. Of. Practice.

What about other languages? Are they easier? I've heard Russian is a snap.

between GHP espousing on dialect of Ceceo, and Deaner talking about magic, this thread got damned queer in a hurry.
Luckily for all of you people, I decided to intervene and add a little hairy manliness to this thread.

That reminds me of high school when all of the jocks and magicians were the ones dating the cheerleaders.

Doesn't matter.
My humor is for me anyway. You have to be pretty advanced to get it in the first place;)

I'm not trying to get out of putting in work, I just would rather not be taking it at a college class. I can already speak it, somewhat.

I had a foreign exchange student from Spain live at the house one year.
It would have helped a lot if I didn't hate him.

Different person/time.
I've opened my home for people 3 times so far.
The exchange student thing isn't bad. Though students from Spain are known for being arrogant little tards.
