View Full Version : The OTHER son(prayer thread)

My oldest son(13) has been a topic several times on this board. He's had asthma and other assorted problems for a while now. He has missed 40 days of school this year.

Last week we got an MRI that showed he has swollen lower abdominal lymph nodes. So on Friday we have him scheduled for an endoscopy upstairs and an colonoscopy downstairs. Even with insurance copays are killing us right now.

Just keep him in mind. We need good news on Friday.

I had to go get some magnesium citrate? and lime jello for him. No more food until the scopes are done.

4/12/2007, 05:31 PM
Ummmm, mag citrate. Best served with flat 7-Up or Sprite. And he gets first dibs on the bathroom. No red or orange liquids either.

It is the pits to have kids with medical issues. Thoughts and prayers for something easily fixed and a return to good health.

sanantoniosooner
4/12/2007, 05:34 PM
I bought some lemon lime soda, but I didn't know he was supposed to drink it flat.

He actually drank the stuff straight and ate some lime jello afterward

It probably won't hurt. Some of the docs around here are anti-carbonation as part of the prep. Some don't care.

Bless his heart. When I worked at the hospital we gave our patients a prep called "Golytely"... no way did you "Go" lightly after drinking that stuff. Needless to say, that's why I'm sending more prayers his way.

Good heavens SAS! What ya'll need is a break from all of this stuff. After all is said and done take a family vacation... no phones, no computers... and just enjoy being together all healthy and well.

Thanks. I guess I'll hear later what they found on him, and I've got an appointment myself to discuss surgery with my Doc.

My son was freaking last night. He's so used to hospital trips being all about him. It's the first time he's been on the other side of the drama. I'm VERY thankful that some relatives stopped in to visit and could watch the kids. They haven't been here in 7 years and got the special welcome.

So whens the update ?

sanantoniosooner
4/15/2007, 08:24 PM
They didn't see anything that would explain his issues. There wasn't any of the candida infection that he had previous to explain the nausea issue, and there wasn't anything obvious that would explain he swollen lymph nodes in his upper abdomen.

They did take 4 biopsies for further investigation. We wont know the fallout from that for a week to 10 from last Friday.

Thanks for asking

Tomorrow I get to meet the guy that will yank my gall bladder.

I'm happy to hear that things are negative thus far.

Hang in there, and get that gallbag out of there.

sanantoniosooner

The biopsies came back inconclusive on Friday, other than they did determine his is lactose intolerant.

I had to take him in this morning for some more blood work and a q-tip up the butt.
