I don't know about the best, but the Katana phone is boss. Comes with all kinds of goodies and takes incredible pictures.

I'd hold off on an iPhone until December.

Who is your service provider?

Do you/Would you like to use your phone for anything other than the basics, making calls, text messaging, etc.?

I just got the black Motorola L6 (which is the middle version of the SLVR).
http://www.digixo.com/products/7/motorola_l6.big.jpg
The L2 is plain, the L6 has a camera, and the L7 has a camera and MP3 player. It is nice since it is very slim, but the buttons are hard to press since they are so small. I got the phone free on a 2-year extension with Cingular. Whatever company you use will have an impact on the phones you can get.

i have an L7, it's not bad, but i'm always afraid i'm gonna break/scratch the screen. i think the KRZR might be better

the mp3 player seems to be there more so you can say you can play mp3's, it's not very good.

also the headset/headphones use the same usb port that charging/data does, so that can get a little annoying

I'm with Cingular. I'm looking for a phone w/ good reception and a few gadgets.

Here are my choices. Does the MOTORAZR V3xx have good reception?

It all depends on the provider, I wanted a Motorola Q but Cingular didn't have it so I bought a Samsung Blackjack last week. I was happy with my Motorola Razr as a phone but I got to the point of needing to access email at work when I am out on jobsites. We swapped the sim card from my wifes Moto V557 into the Razr and my wife is using it now, she seems to like it. It already had a Boomer Sooner ringtone on it, so that is my custom one now. She has her Texas Tech fight song on it for everyone else.

The Razr was better than the GAIT phone that I had before in GSM service areas, the GAIT phone was better outside of the city/interstate areas since it had multiple service capability (GSM/TDMA/CDMA/Analog) that the newer phones do not. For the most part the large providers are phasing out the old technologies. It is just in some of the areas in the Hill Country where I ride there are smaller providers on the old systems, so I still carry an old phone for 911 use in those areas.

The RAZR V3's have very good reception and battery life. My wife has used every stupid QWERTY/smart phone there is and the battery life is about half and zero of them get as good of reception as my moto.

I have a plain RAZR V3C. I love it. It's not perfect, but the battery lasts a long time and it always works. Also you can connect it to your PC to change ringtones and stuff. The motorola software has it's problems, but my mom has a samsung phone and it has the worst UI I've ever seen. It looks cool, but it's really hard to do anything on it. I've looked at the krazr but the button's are made for circus midgets or something. I like a wide phone.

i actually purchased a screen protector off ebay for like 5 bucks or so. it protects it from the scratches that i would have otherwise already put on it.

Every Treo that I have talked to on the other end (regardless of model) sounds like they are talking in a deep well with a bad 2-way echo. The Q has a much better phone than the Treo. The Treo is a better PDA since that is what it was built from. The Q is a phone that does some PDA and the Treo is a PDA that does some phone, all in one tools are never great at everything. That is why I have no interest in replacing my iPod with a phone device.

IF you want to do anything with data get the 8525.

When I was in OKC last week, I noticed my phone went back to EDGE, but when they put the 3G network there you'll want a 3G phone.

I just need a regular phone, but I want good antenna. My wife and son both have better reception than me but I wouldn't want their phones
I have this one (http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=us&lc=en&ver=4000&template=pip1&pid=10439&zone=pp)
My son has this one (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=890)
My wife has this one (http://www.pantechusa.com/web/guest/c300)

Camera is nice to have in my line of work, but I can live without it.
I just need a good antenna

Cingular phones only

I like my razr in the states

I have one here that's similar to your sons. I just don't like slide phones, because sometimes i end up making calls with the phone in my pocket. Flip phones are better for me.

I have the SLVR as well. I LOVE it. But I think that has more to do with the fact tat its better than my last phone.

I really like how well the camera works, with all the zooms and what not. I actually use it a lot more than I thought I would.

As far as the music goes, I use mine a LOT. Mainly just when I am working out. I wear those tank tops with the built in 'bra', so the phone actually fits into my shirt. I also have it set up with speakers so I can listen to my music in the morning when I am in the bathroom getting ready for work. I mean, its not a great stereo system or anything, but its not horrible.

Id also like to say that it is better than flip phones, for me, because I carry the phone in my back pocket. I dont have problems with scratching the screen, though.

I don't think I'll be doing too much data stuff, but the wife might. I want it more for the keyboard than anything else.

I have an LG CU500 (http://www.itnewsonline.com/images/news/LG-CU500-ss.jpg). It has a 1.3 megapixel camera, and an mp3 player with external controls. It is also a cingular 3G phone which is there updated, faster, internet network. Which means it can get TV and radio, and the standard internet. It gets great reception. Had it for about 7 months now, I love it.
