I thought this was a very good article about the origins of the Passover and Easter and the links between the 2.

Commentators have summed up the parallels like this: Hebrews were not saved from certain death because of their heritage. The angel of death wasn't checking DNA during Passover. The Hebrews were saved by putting their faith in the blood of a lamb.

And for Christians, it is the same. They are not saved by their pedigree, by their membership in a church, or by how much money they put in the plate each week. According to the Gospels, Christians are saved by putting their faith in the bloodshed of Jesus, who they call, the Lamb of God.

The eggs and bunnies are holdovers from pagan fertility and spring celebrations. Putting money in the eggs, purely a capitalist notion.

How they got mixed up with Easter/Eastre is largely a matter of who's writing down how it happened. ;)

eggs became part of easter because PAAS is the silent partner of the pentaverate (rothchild's, getty's, the colonel (before he went tits-up), etc...). without PAAS, we wouldn't associate easter with the sweet, pungent smell of vinegar.

the easter bunny came about, as we all know, from warner brothers and their portrayal of a disgruntled rabbit bringing multi-colored eggs to unsuspecting children... painted, of course, with the help of..... PAAS.

The Hebrew word for Passover, Pesach, morphed into the Latin/Greek, Pascha, (cf, "Paschal") from which are derived the Spanish word, Pascua, and the French word, Paques.
