Supposedly Rick Barnes wasn't even offered the job...he just took his name out of the running when he found out he wasn't 2nd choice to Donovan.

That's really too bad for A&M and for the Big XII. Gillespie is the real deal. I lived in El Paso when Rabideaux (former OU Men's BB assistant coach) abruptly quit as UTEPs head coach just before the 2002 season. Gillespie took over, and coached a team that typically only had 7-9 players suited up for any given game. They went 6-24 that year, but 24-8 the following year with a full complement of players.

The odds of aTm or (you can't spell suck w/o) KSU getting a replacement half as good as the ones that just flew the coop are astronomically low. They HAD a good run indeed. The party is over up north and down south. Welcome to the upper echelon of the Big XII coach Capel.
