View Full Version : Who is your coach other than Stoops??

Collier11

IF Coach Stoops were to take a NFL job or retire in the next 1-5 years who would you want as OU's next coach and why?

1. Urban Meyer-I dont think he would leave Florida for OU, but money talks sometimes
2. Steve Spurrier- Doubt he would enjoy Oklahoma's weather, but still a great coach
3. Bill Cowher-I dont think he would come to college ball, but I would love to have him
4.- Bobby Petrino-Weve seen what he can do at Louisville, just think what he could do at a football school
5. Jon Gruden-great players coach, has won a SB, would be a great college coach IMO

That's just like a far out there kinda guy, but a possibility would be Kragthorpe. I am really curious to see what he does at Louisville. He really seems like a solid guy though.

chantundefeated
4/6/2007, 05:46 PM
hahaha well I'm a lot Irish. I really wanted to go to ND, so I just root for them even though I was denied. If the two played I would prob root for OU. I seriously think weis is a great coach, and he has a d coordinator now that will actually help...Think about this. If weis was at OU then no one would be complaining about Kevin Wilson's offense which did happen earlier in the year when we were putting up 24 on UAB. I'm not bashing wilson. I have actually been a fan of his since he got hired. However, I am excited to see what kragthorpe does at UL, and I could see him as the OU coach in a couple of years if stoops jet to the NFL within like the next two years.

Allow me to toss out an original idea & hire a Gator defensive coordinator, Charlie Strong. Reason I say this is because although you couldn't tell it with their NC game point total, UF rode their defense to that title last year. Meyer gets WAY too much credit for last year, IMO. UF scored 21 points or less in 5 games, & didn't average 30 points for the entire year.

There's a guy here in the Panhandle who's been pretty impressive at West Texas A&M. He took over a program that won 7 games in the 4 seasons prior to his coming, and has a 29-3 record for his 2 1/2 seasons here.

He coached Dalton Bell, the quarterback that wound up replacing Paul Thompson's on the practice squad at Green Bay.

His name is Don Carthel. I think he's happy where he is, but if he ever decided to jump to Division I, whoever signed him would be getting a very good coach, and a very good man.
