There are few things in the world more beautiful than an MLB field on a sunny afternoon with the smell of hot dogs and popcorn, an ocean of cola (or frosty beverage of your choice) at your side and the sounds of the game filling the air.

Don't get me wrong, college football is my favorite sport of them all, but there's just something beautiful about baseball and all the things that go with it.

PLAY BALL!

The first pitch should always be thrown at in Cincinnati. I've gotten over the wild card, the so called meaningful all-star game, but doing away with starting the season other than in Cincy still annoys me.

He tends to do that. There hasn't been an over-hyped Cuban pitcher come into the league in a while. Stuck with over-hyped Japanese, I guess (although this one seems like he might actually live up to it).

It is Steve Stone doing the radiocast on the White Sox game, but apparently is doing it on a temporary basis:

Here's the NL Central standings within the next half-hour:
Reds 1-0
Brewers 1-0
Cubs 0-1
Cardinals 0-1
Also, here's another number to chew on: 1869, the Reds were baseball's first professional franchise; hence, that's why they get to be at home every Opening Day.
I also agree that the Reds should play first before everyone else on Opening Day.

Well, it could be worse. The Rockies' leadoff hitter (Taveras) went 0-for-4 (not to be confused with 04) with 4 strikeouts.

And Adam LaRoche went 0-for-5 with 4 strikeouts.

All 3 of those dorks (those two plus Lugo) are on my fantasy team.

Well the new owner of the Tribune is selling the Cubs at the end of the season. Anyone interested in the Cubs would see what kind of goldmine the team is in terms of revenue by just leaving them where they are now. Anyone who'd consider moving them wants to buy a team specifically to move it to a certain market. They however, would have to get the other owners and MLB to agree to that, and I don't see them letting the Cubs leave the North Side without a fight.
