I actually like Medieval Fair, I just laugh at some of the people that take that stuff way too seriously.

I drove by there yesterday on my way to Padthai. I've actually gone to this POS one time. Walked around and went "who knew there were this many completely ****ing insane people in the entire state of Oklahoma," ate my indian taco, and went the hell home. There are so many more things I'd rather do on a weekend than go to this thing I couldn't list them all. Hell, I'd be more inclined to watch AI or Survivor than attend the MF.

Oh, by the way: according to Facebook the OU EXTREME! Land Yachting League plans to dress up as pirates, vikings, corsairs, midshipmen, and other "nautical brigands" and pillage their way through Medieval Fair on Saturday afternoon. Should be highly entertaining, if you're so inclined.

That said I go to the MF every year for a turkey leg and to watch the freaks, its better than anything on tv... will probably stop by after the scrimmage tomorrow.

Its also a pretty big boon to the Norman economy I think the stat is like ~200,000 people attend that thing.

My brother took a friend to a renaissance fair deal and the friend got fascinated with the long sword fighting. He now goes to a bunch of those things and participates. They wear armor and he, being 6'9" and around 350, has taken the name "Shield Breaker". He doesn't play nice and rarely gets invited back. HEH!
