By this I mean by winning percentage and not wins.I recall Switzer being referred to as the fourth all-time at .837.Who are the coaches ranked ahwad of him.I dug around myself and theonly coach I could find who won at a higher percentage was Rockne.

Thaks Beauty ,thats exactly what I was looking for.The accurracy appears high as far I can confirm .Stu Paterno and Bowden are not in the top 10 in winning PERCENTAGE.which is what I was going for.

I always heard Switzer was 2nd behind only Rockne for coaches who coached over 75 games or something like that.

Depends on the amount of games played. You can have joe schmo with a good winning percentage. How about wins because that is what matters. And if Bowden didn't start off where he was he would definately shoot up the list.

If it wasn't for the two wins stolen from Stoops, he would be fourth on that list right now.

As blatantly as Oregon and Texas Tech in back to back seasons? That would be difficult to believe.

The "KING" got robbed in the 84' RRS (should have been a W).
As far as that list goes, Bud should be ahead of Fulmer for two reasons:
#1 He has more overall wins.
#2 He coached at OU---Fat Phil at Tennessee. ;)

I apparently was asleep at the wheel initially while verifying the data.I verifyed all coaches listed but didn't account for active coaches.I discovered the list was apparently 3-4 years old as Fulmer is now 137-41
.775 which drops him out of the top 10.Stoops who is 86-19 .819 now is 10th behind Wilkinson. Carroll of USC is 65-12 .844 and will crack the list after passing the 100 games coached plateau(apparently part of the criteria).Coker 6-15 .800, when he was fired at UM could move in when he gets another job and IF he could regain top form.Tressel of TOSU 62-14 .816 make a move into the top 10 in the next couple of years.
It occurred to me as I dug into the data that not all these coaches could be considered D-1 coaches but I think the early coaches,(Haughton,Woodruf) are included because there was no such distinction in the early days of college football. IF that were not so Switzer would rank 3rd.

I think that is correct, but Bobby will be there very soon...as he should be. He is now a part of Oklahoma lore and history and it will be a shame if we ever let him get away, regardless of what it may cost to keep him. He is our adoptive son and for him to leave at this point, would be like Benedict Arnold selling secrets to the British. Whatever it takes, we need to keep Bob.

Just my take.

Just my take. Or Benedict Royal becoming UT coach?

nuff saidNot exactly.Leahy's tenure at ND ran through 1953.I'm a big fan of Barry's too but facts are facts.OU does have the number 4,9,10 coaches in winning percentage however in Switzer,Wilkinson,Stoops.
