Just because they haven't beat the Mavericks since the 20th century, and because the Mavs are the hottest team in the league right now, and because the Hornets have been struggling to get over .500 all season, you're ready to throw in the towel? You suck.

C&CDean
3/27/2007, 10:13 AM
I'm just wishing the whole Hornets craze/phase would hurry up and drift on into the sunset. I'll feel a lot better about supporting a pro team in OKC when it's an OKC team. And I wish it were hockey, not NBA.

BigRedJed

BigRedJed

Well, they can't afford to fix the roads now, since they gave all of that money to subsidize the Hornets. Oh... ...wait... ...I got that wrong. The city actually turned a profit on its deal with the Hornets. Forgot about that. OK, I'll let them know.

If by "profit" you mean enough money for Mick to buy him and the boys a cheeseburger basket and coke then yeah, they turned a profit.

As long as that cheeseburger cost $1.2 million, then I agree.

it sucks that they aren't really our team, but if we hadn't had such support for them we wouldn't have a shot at our own team

NHL? boring! you might as well wish we had a pro soccer team ;)

i'd rather have MLB than hockey

BigRedJed

Oh, and I forgot about the tax dollars generated by the game nights in Bricktown. And the hotel tax generated. And the massive amounts of PR OKC got from national media outlets that couldn't even find us on a map before that, even now, are turning into real brick and mortar economic development. You're right. We got screwed.

yermom
3/27/2007, 10:37 AM
well, they could find us on the map, but now maybe it's not to talk about the bombing

Well, when that $$ starts trickling out to Lexington, U.S.A. then I'll be all bonerfied like you.

I'll support our own pro franchise (probably wouldn't ever buy season-tix but would go to some games) when we get one.

Oh hell yes I'd rather have MLB. I'd rather have MLB than anything pro. Live hockey is a good time. Televised hockey is the sukk. Anything "soccer" is the mega-sukk.

you know, you hornets fans can take a cue from the Mavs fans of old.....we used to go to Reunion arena to watch the other team coming into town

when the Lakers were a hot hot team (back in the 80's, with Magic, etc)......you couldnt find a ticket

so appreciate the talent you see on the floor tonite, you only get to see dallas twice in a season

:)

in all seriousness there is no comparison. you can say that for any team in the last number of years.

i was just giving them an example of how Mavs fans got thru a number of seasons in the past

BigRedJed
3/27/2007, 10:57 AM
Yeah, seriously. It's a stretch, but still a possibility. And Peja probably comes back this week. If the team wouldn't have had such horrific injuries, they'd probably be in the middle of the playoff pack right now. Anything can happen.

jk the sooner fan
3/27/2007, 10:58 AM
anything is possible

heck i'd love to see you guys get the #8 seed, would make for alot of rest for the mavs, especially with travel

BigRedJed
3/27/2007, 10:59 AM
Well, interestingly, Hornets games have pretty much been dominated by Hornets fans since day one. There really hasn't been much of a "go to see the other teams" mentality. On nights when there's a true superstar, maybe 5-10% of the place is pulling for the other team. The Mavs naturally get the biggest crowds, because there were already a lot of Mavs fans here. But I'll guarantee the people pulling for the Mavs tonight will be outnumbered 10-1 by Hornets fans.

jk the sooner fan
3/27/2007, 11:02 AM
dallas fans have always been fickle like that......the early mavs got ALOT of support but after years and years of losing, you picked the games you went to see based on who was coming to town

we've got a bigger population to draw from to fill the seats, so its easier to see something like that happen

OKC has done a great job supporting that team, its good to see

Maybe the Mavs are comfortable with thier lead, will have a bad night, are sick, ummm something.

The NHL would be sweet in OKC. If I had my way, it would be in this order...

MLB, NHL, NFL, MLS, NBA...I love the Hornets, but the NBA is overrated and all they do is walk and dunk to be on SportsCenter.

I still have to pinch myself when I watch this team.

And OKC should be proud of what they've done. I'm rooting for them to make the playoffs. They deserve their own team. And if they were smart, they'd make the colors some shades of crimson and cream. Easier for the fan base. :D

Yep, najera got more money than he would have from the mavs.
