I still fee bad for Prothro, he was the only reason that Alabama was any good two years ago, and that catch was the best catch I have ever seen in my life.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama wide receiver Tyrone Prothro is facing a third surgery to repair the leg he broke during the Florida game in 2005. Coach Nick Saban disclosed the upcoming operation during a news conference Thursday.

"I'm not a doctor and this is a pretty significant injury and a pretty complicated issue medically," Saban said. "But I think that he will undergo another surgery and try to make a further improvement to enhance his ability to maybe come back in the future."

Prothro missed all of last season, and was doubtful this season even before the surgery.

Prothro sustained a compound fracture of his left leg while attempting to make a catch on Oct. 1, 2005, and spent a month in the hospital after infection set in.

Injuries are teh succ. :(

I really hope he's alright soon, I struggled a little after my broken collarbone (and I'm not joking, I did break it back in 6th grade). I can sympathize with the broken bones issue. Only question I have is, since I don't really watch Bama... did he break his leg on that amazing catch play, or was it another play?

It was a play against florida not on his ridiculous catch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53imC4zojfc). Snaps it like a twig. Then it got infected. Really unfortunate.

That is just about the finest catch I've ever seen.

Wow, my injury wasn't even half the suck that was. :(
I had a small fracture, it hurt like hell doing things like writing, lifting my arms and stuff. It really bothered me because I really wasn't able to get comfortably back into baseball for another two years.

This one about made me lose my lunch. OMFG that is horrible. Prayers are for him to get well soon. :)

yeah multiple fractures, something wasn't set correctly, ended up with blood infection while in hospital, had it rebroken once to fix it, now more surgery. I'd be surprised if he ever played again. At least Bama has retained him on scholarship.

If Prothro hadn't had that injury, Shula would probably still be at Bama. He was that big of an impact player. He is a great guy also though. He was the first player to seek out Coach Saban upon his arrival and greet him to Tuscaloosa. Most Bama fans are just hoping he will be able to walk normal again. Prothro and football is really an afterthought now. He dressed out and brought out the game ball prior to kickoff of last year's Iron Bowl. There weren't many dry eyes in the house after that.

I really hope he is able to walk normally again... Both for selfish reasons and for his sake, I really hope that he could make a comeback to football, he really was that good. I doubt it could ever be the same though. :( The thing that I think is really sad is that he had NFL talent written all over him and it woulda changed changed the lives of him and his family.
