To make the hallways in the concourse downtown all different colors? Seriously..it's hideos.

the walls are painted bright white and they have colored lights...blue, green, ORANGE, red, yellow and pink are the ones I've seen...the hallway from the Cox center parking garage to my office is like walking into a pink nightmare

Scroll down to the Oklahoma City entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_city).
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma The Metro Conncourse, named after its founder, Jack Conn, is an underground tunnel system connecting nearly all the downtown buildings in a 20-square-block area. The Conncourse is one of the most extensive all-enclosed pedestrian systems in the country, extending three-quarters of a mile and connecting over 30 downtown buildings by tunnel or skyway. The original tunnel link was built in 1931 and the system was extended in the 1970s. Offices, shops, and restaurants line the Conncourse system. It is scheduled to undergo a $2 million renovation in 2006. Upon completion of the renovation, the plan calls for the Conncourse to be renamed the Underground.

I've lived in OKC for 18 years, and have never been in the concourse. Guess I need to check it out someday.

Was the concourse built in the 70's? That seemed to be the vintage of the Will Rogers terminal (prior to all the recent construction).

no, pink and crimson do not make orange

they're remodeling it. they put all new carpet in, painted the walls bright white and put colored fluorescent lights in different patterns..on the walls and ceilings. the light blue one with lights only on one side isn't too bad..the rest give me a headache if i stay in there too long

So all the hideous colors are due to the remodel? Maybe that's to help you find your way around. If all the corridors looked the same it would be a total maze.

Here's an idea: walk on the sidewalks when going from builiding to building downtown. The concourse (or Conncourse, or Underground) takes people off the streets and gives the impression that the CBD is dead, when it has less vacancy than in years.

I was all for closing it, but they decided to renovate instead.

I was all for closing it, but they decided to renovate instead. That's usually what I do. I was in the Conncourse getting money and decided to explore since I hadn't been down there in years.

It would be nice if they could get more tenants down there and then effectively promote it as an attraction.

I do when it's nice outside...but in the rain and during the winter, the tunnels came in quite handy...and that pink one goes right from my parking garage to the basement of my building.

I seem to remember a few tunnels when I worked in downtown Tulsa. Nothing as extensive as the Underground though.
