Do you get paid for travel time?

I don't mean miles when you are driving. I mean if your job sends you somewhere to work, do you(or should you) get paid for the time your *** is sitting in the plane seat? OR, do you just get paid for the hours worked while at the sight?
Example: You are sent to Orlando to man a booth at a convention for your job. Do you get paid for the 4 hour flight time or do you only get paid for the time you are at the booth plus expenses/per diem(sp?)?

i never hear about getting paid for travel time really, but often i hear of people getting an extra day off, like if they are on site for a week, they don't work Friday

I'm salaried, so it doesn't really matter. I suppose if we had to punch the clock around here I would count a travel day as a work day.

@ my previous job when I had to travel my time would start when I walked out my front door to go to the airport till the time I got to the hotel (and vise versa),then whatever time was worked @ that location,plus food & lodging.

Yes. Travel time is absolutely included if you're hourly.

I'm not hourly. I get paid per diem. It begins when I leave my portal (home or office) and ends when I arrive back at my portal. It is completely dependent on the city/county/state as to how much. Pretty good jack for large cities, average for smaller/less expensive places.

Now, I do charge a reduced rate for travel time, but if the case takes me away from the office, it's chargeable time.

On TDY's, we get per diem and travel costs.

I charge 3/4 day for travel- 750. or around that number for cheap jobs.

I'm on a day rate, but I get to charge my travel time off. Mine's extra funky depending on which way i cross the International date line
