One of the kids at school received a brown recluse spider bite on her shin. It was probably in the boots she put on. She had to have MRIs, several minor surgeries for dead tissue removal. they were worried it would go to the bone, which is very bad. She survived, with her leg intact.
We found out that all of the treatment (steroids and antibiotics) are to prevent secondary issues. There isn't much you can do for the spider bite as it just goes through its cycle.
