Why do Europeans do these really tight close-in publicity head shots of their candidates with multi-colored backgrounds whereas every politician/candidate here takes the same basic picture from the chest up behind a blue background and American flag?

i just like it when there are pictures/interviews with some knucklehead with a bookcase of books behind them. see, that tells me they must be smart.
