View Full Version : You Need One 3-Pointer...

You're the head coach of OU and you can have your choice of any current or past player to take a 3 pointer for you...

Who do you choose?

Suggestions...
- Dave Sieger
- Mookie Blaylock
- Tim McAllister
- Brent Price
- Hollis Price

Anyone else?

I'd choose Seiger to make a 3. The guy was an amazing shooter. He couldnt move at all but if got a look, it was going down.

Calvin Curry. 'Cause you know that no matter what, he'd get the shot off. It may not go in, but he wouldn't wait for it to be open-or even across half court.

Yes, I am convinced that if Calvin Curry could see the basket, it was within his range.

For me, Terry Evans.
From your list, Price, either one. They are the only two from your list that actually won games with a three, if I remember correctly.

Calvin Curry without question! Nate Erdman would be my second pick.

Hollis Price was just clutch. There are better 3 point shooters on that list but Price was Mr. Clutch.

McCallister never made a big shot to win a game. he missed a lot of them though.

i got drunk with him a couple times at the Deli in the late 90's. decent enough guy.

Hollis. David Little is a good choice, but there wasn't a 3 point line then. my Dad tells a great story about being at Gallagher Hall the year Little hits that last second in the key jumper to beat the pokes......and trying to get out of the gym as fast as possible.

Didn't he drop one his freshman year to win a first round game at the Big 12?

this is probably just becuase I'm young and don't know about many other guys, but Price. He was the man from the three. Don't remember how clutch he was though. I was focused more on OSU at the time, even if Price did take them to the final four.

I'm surprized that Nate Erdman isn't getting any more love than he has. He was a one trick pony and that trick was the Three Ball.

He won the NCAA all star three point contest, in addition to being the main man here after Minor left.

Heh! :D That was my first thought.
When he was hot he was hot.
CC was in my freshman English class. Gave me his comp tix to a game against Calipari's UMASS team so I could take my nephew. So I gave him a kidney.

Oh seriously, Hollis.

Before I opened the thread and read your post, Hollis came to mind first but Seiger was the guy who I decided on.

When I was a kid, during Seiger's day, I looked like a young version of him.

Well... just tell him his name came up under this topic. I used to love watching that guy drain the long shots with a hand right in his face. It usually happened when the Sooners needed a score the most too!

Freakin' David Little. I still remember when he put up a last second shot from way out against us for the win in 1983ish. He played before the three...but I have no doubt he would've made a crap ton of them if it were available to him back then.

For the question at hand though, I'd go for Hollis Price as well. He was one hell of a competitor. I'd want the ball in his hands in closing seconds of a tight game.

it was about halfway between the top of the key and the FT line, kind of a leaner.

This brings up an interesting point. If we have time to run a set play, I might lean more toward Seiger or 2005-06 Michael Neal.

If we're just scrambling to get it off, Hollis.

In either scenario, I'd like the ball in Hollis' hands in the closing seconds. If the set play works, pass it off. If it doesn't, he was actually pretty good at shooting the three off the dribble.
