I wanted to leave it to a more broad interpretation for everyone else if you want to make your own list. But I just did my opinion on the best players.

Best QB ever has to be Jimmy Harris or Steve Davis.

Steve Davis doesn't play that one bad game vs. KU and he never loses a game as a starter.

Andre Woolfolk. Kid played both ways in a time when nobody does anymore. And singlehandedly (pun intended) turned the momentum of the OU vs NU game around in a month that came to be known as "Red October."

Troy Aikman wasn't very well known was he? The legend I heard is that Barry sorta had to "sell" his ability to help him transfer.

greatness

you have to rank championships ahead of "just really good skill"

at least to me you do

I think if were talking skill level

QB Josh Heupel, Jason White, Jack Mildren, Jamelle, Lott were all more skilled than Davis. My dad knew Harris but I couldn't tell you what kind of player he was way before my time.

I think you have guys who are surrounded by buttloads of talent like Trent Dilfer who don't have the elite QB skills but help there teams win championships. You also have guys with elite skills on terrible teams like Butkis and Archie Manning.

I am not putting Steve Davis in that category, really he is before my time as well.

Gonna need a little more. Based on ... ?

Troy wasn't even all that good when he was here. Sure he want on to win superbowls but he didn't do squat in his two years here. Injury and redshirt isn't enough to be on our list.

Lee Roy was hands down the greatest Sooner evar!

Jimmy Harris is FAR from the Trent Dilfer type

remember, during that 47 game win streak, Bud Wilkinson had an "A" and "B" squad and shuttled them in and out on different series......Jimmy Harris was a STUD athlete and QB

and I'd put Steve Davis ahead of Mildren on running the wishbone

Ron is right....Troy Aikman was 3-2 as a starter at OU (with one loss coming against KU). He doesn't belong in the discussion.

based on talent or achievements?

I'm not arguing any of this I can't remember seeing any of them play. I have seen video, all three were impressive.

I just think it's hard to evaluate individual skill by a team's success or failure. Demond Parker and Kelly Gregg played for sorry teams but both were very skilled players.

I think the very first OU qb I can remember watching play was JC Watts and then I was about 7 years old.
