I was wondering what the season would have looked like with:

Matt Gibson who is scoring about 10 1/2 a game for Hawaii
Drew Lavender who was second team A10 and had a decent year
Lawrence MacKenzie who scored about 15 points a game for the Gophers.
Brandon Foust who scored 12 points a game for Southeast Missouri State.
Larry Turner for another big guy to take up space in the lane.
DeAngelo Alexander puttin down 18 a game in Charlotte

Not to mention those guys that went elsewhere this last recruiting season.

Oh well...Here is to next season

Another reason, that when I look back at the Kelvin era of OU BBall, I get all sad inside.

Why would most of our best players leave?

He ran off Ryan Humphries, who eventually became a first round pick in the NBA draft.

Let's hope Capel is better at keeping players from transferring.

It was a similiar thread to this one that got me kicked off of the other board.

Hell, I could do that.

Gipson and Alexander's eligibility would have ran out last year.

Turner left because of family issues. He was leaving no matter what.

Lavender and McKenzie were bad fits at PG. McKenzie wanting to be a PG is a joke.

Foust is the only guy I would have wanted to stay. He could be a good 3/4 type like Carter is but only more athletic. But I think he had grade issues.

The only other transfer not listed was Tobias who had a brother get killed.

"Matt Gibson who is scoring about 10 1/2 a game for Hawaii"
That's not the same guy. Matt Gipson is the one you're thinking of. He also ended up at UH (via an Idaho JUCO), & was from Texas (Burkburnett, IIRC). The Gibson who's now at UH is ironically, from OKC.

As for Ryan H., he's said on MORE than a few occasions that he made a mistake in leaving OU. Sometimes kids just have to find out for themselves.

Bad fit or not, we really could've used McKenzie this year, whether at PG or not.

I agree he would make a great 2 for us. So would Lavender for that matter but neither were gonna stay here in that role.

He's just not big enough to play the point in the Big 12 level though. That's why he left to go to Xavier where he can be a point at a lesser level.

Big Red Ron

If he was here this year we would be a ton better. He could play. He was a McDonald's All American but he was playing as a true freshman and sophomore.

I agree we are better because we could use another guard that can score. But I don't think we are any better at the point.

I agree we are better because we could use another guard that can score. But I don't think we are any better at the point.Man, he'd be a senior with four years of experience running the point in the Big XII. He'd make Maze and Johnson look like the backups they are. Xavier is in the A-10 who will have almost as many NCAA teams this year as us. He would be a real PG, something we currenly do not have.

Plus, if Lavendar were here, we wouldn't have to deal with ANY Chris Walker time.

the_ouskullOK,I'll bite, who said it?I can't agree more strongly with rhat statement.BTW for those who keep messing it ip,the name was Ryan Humphrey.I would also remind one and all he was an NBA bust.Personally I thought he was an early second -rounder ,not a first round pick, but in any case a bust.

Big Red Ron

Bust or not, he was a first round pick and Ryan was the best pure talent to come through OU BBall since Ryan Minor.
