light grey, dark grey? i wouldn't go with any loud colors, at least for an interview. i like darker shirts for darker suits and vice versa. but i'm sure everyone has different tastes.

It's what I'd wear with a gray suit. Try www.ctshirts.com -decent prices on high-quality stuff. Go with french cuffs if you think you can pull it off-they make your shirt look snazzier.

Just as importantly... the shoes.. Black, shined to within an inch of their life... lace up, no slip ons, the thinner, longish black sock... tie (red, scarlet striped with grey or black... or a subtle pattern with red as the predominate color).

In my opinion, it would be harder to find the right tie to go with a light grey pinstripped suit than the shirt. Shirts come in just a few basic colors.

Actually, I have no clue. I wear white shirts because it is the easiest thing to pick out in the morning without worrying if I look stupid or ghey.

The hard and fast rule is nothing but white shirts after five. There's a bit more leeway during the day, especially with, say, a sportcoat. But interviewing at a bank? In a suit? White. NOT a button-down. You're wearing a suit, man. And Lid had it right on oxfords rather than slipons. With a suit, you should never wear anything that doesn't have laces on it.

One word of caution: the shirt he showed a pic of is a fairly spread-collared shirt, which shouldn't be worn if you have a round face, like me. Longer collars are in order for fat boys.

You were born after 2004??

A moped is a motor-assisted bicycle. Generally around 50cc. With pedals. The scooter in that picture is more like a motorcycle than a bicycle. The main difference is the step-through frame and the fact that the engine is mounted directly to the rear axle, no chain. It's not a huge displacement, either, but that 150cc motor will get that scooter up around 65 MPH.

BRJ is correct on some thing here.

For one, a tie should NEVER be worn with a button-down shirt.

For two, yes, shoes with laces must be worn with a suit.

However, I disagree most vehemently on his assertion that only a white shirt must be worn to an interview. It is, however, considered more formal, so go with that.

I didn't say that only a white shirt must be worn to an interview, or even that only white shirts should be worn with suits. What I said was:

The hard and fast rule is nothing but white shirts after five. There's a bit more leeway during the day, especially with, say, a sportcoat. But interviewing at a bank? In a suit? White...
It just shows better judgment, IMO, to go with a white shirt in that situation. Colored shirts can look great with suits at times. But nothing beats white for a professional appearance. And after five, seriously, ONLY white should be worn.

Well, I disagree with Froze a bit regarding never wearing button-down collars with a tie. I specifically meant never with a suit. You should never wear a button-down with a suit. "Button down" refers to the collar. You should wear a regular collar with a suit.

Some (myself included) think it is gauche to wear a tie with a button-down shirt, as a button down shirt is appallingly casual for a business setting.

Less formal: slacks, sport coat, button-down collar, slip-on shoes.

More formal: suit (matched pants/jacket), pointed collar, lace-up dress shoes (oxfords).

Keep the less formal and the more formal items in the same group and you're golden. A pointed collar is also entirely appropriate with the less formal items. A tie can be worn in either situation, but is best worn with a suit. If you're wearing a sport coat, slacks, button-down collar shirt and slip-ons, you can probably get away with no tie.
