He is a load. A few quick thoughts on the limited clips. The RB's look good. Murray is quick. Josh is working on Nichol's sidearm motion. Reed is running in molasses. I'm sure Smitty is working on taking off some of that extra weight to get him back up to speed.

Anyone watch the Highlight and Interview spots?

They have a good amount of kids on there. Nichol has a good head on his shoulders it seems like and he does not come off very abrasive when we talks. I hated hearing Romar talk.

I hear the movie Deliverance was based of Nichol's experience as a Kindergarten teacher! TO KEITH NICHOL!!!!

Keith Nichol and Sam Bradford's slant route passes seemed to be spot on. I haven't watched Halzle's clip yet, but im sure its all the same.

The RB's did look good, and yes Mike Reed looked a little sluggish...O well, he has a few months to get in shape so we shouldn't worry. Jeremy Beal looked good in his drills, I think he has a bright future and may end up being a star.

Okay, I watched Halzle. his short routes were thrown good, but his deep ball to Tennel looked a little short. On a side note: he has a Colt McCoy baby face :D

Nichol seemed to be the only one of the 3 QB's that had much zip on the ball. Halzle looks like 4th grader in his interview.

Phil Loadholt's interview.

Reporter:How did it feel to get out on the field and have a helmet on?

Load: I love pot pie! POT PIE WITH BABIES!!!

Reporter: Do you have anything to say to soonerfans who will be looking for you on the line?

Load: BRING POT PIE! THROW PIE ON FIELD! PHIL DO WELL YOU BRING POT PIE....and BABIES!!! PHIL LOVE BABIES!!!

My boy Jeremy Beal looks like a beast! What ever thing they were using for the drill he was doing looked pretty bad ***!

I was amazed by how much media they put together for the first day of spring drills. Awesome.

Phil looks HUGE. I feel really good about our O-Line. Lots of depth. Loadholt, Robinson, and Williams are absolute road graders.

Murray and Madu should push for PT.

BV sounded excited about RR when he said he could start at any of the three LB spots. I'm excited to see what Reynolds can do on the field.

The three QBs looked pretty equal. They were all three good with the media. All three looked decent in drills (not much over or under throwing). It's tough to say from the limited video.

Overall, I'm just excited spring is finally here. Boomer Sooner!

The running backs ought to look good. They are in shorts and aren't getting hit.

I watched the videos of all three quarterbacks, and to me Joey looked like he was aiming the ball, somewhat. From the few throws they showed, it looked to me as if Nichol and Bradford had more zip on the ball.

I liked the blocking in Madu's clip. Loadholt took out most of the line, and then the fullback took out the DE to make a wide open outside for Madu.

I thought Demarco Murray looked quicker and more impressive from the limited clips we have.

Nichol to me looked quick. I'm no expert on this stuff so who knows. I just thought he was getting back quick and getting the ball off quick. Looks like he has a strong arm as long as he's not side-arming it.

Nichols delivery looks really low, not so much over the top of the shoulder....maybe i'm looking at it wrong, but thats what i see

he does have some zip on the ball though!

They looked good because everybody else on the field was in shorts and couldn't get to them (in the limited video highlights). Part of it is that the O-Line is huge and relatively quick, but both Madu and Murray look pretty quick (and it isn't like the defense is slow, either).

Also check out the new "THERE IS ONLY ONE" movie clip at the same page.

They show the whole team not a single player.

I guess Bernie K was terrible- Hope we don't over adjust him and mess up his confidence....

I noticed his throwing motion was a wind up in the pocket- on the run he is more natural at getting the ball off.

Keith isn't 6-5 like Bernie and Josh was telling him to stay up on top of his delivery. It's definitely something the coaches are working on. A lot of people made fun of Uncle Rico's delivery and the balls he'd get batted down. Take 4" off Vince's height and there'd been a few more knock downs.

Just sayin.

Loadholt is a monster man... My buddy on the team said that he works out so damn hard its amazing.. He's going to be an impact player for sure.

Fyi, Reed came in 30 pounds overweight. Apparently he did not work out at all over Christmas break. Coaches were furious about it.

MojoRisen
3/9/2007, 01:42 PM
Does that mean he is weighing in at 270? that could be problematic.... DE is in his future.

My brother coached Keith Traylor at UCO- he was a 250 pound Linebacker- now he plays at about 340

I'm not totally for sure what weight he came in at, I just know it was 30 pounds overweight... and the coaches were irate about it. But that being said, I don't think its that big of a deal... Workouts are intense, and I'm sure he will be at target weight by summer practices

He's close to his playing weight right now.

I love the fact that DeMarco is wearing #7. I hope he keeps that during the season. It has nothing to do with Bomar and everything to do with the fact that I think it's awesome to have a RB wearing #7.

Day 2 videos are posted, and they were a lot of fun to watch.

I'm sure they are only showing us the good stuff, but the QB's looked OK. As I watch them all it seems to me that Nichol is much quicker than the rest and he gets the ball of faster.

Can't wait till April 7!

Exactly.

It's going to be difficult for the coaches to make room for all of the talented RBs in the offense this season. I bet Murray and Madu end up playing in the slot most of the time with Patrick and Brown taking a great deal of the carries.

It will be difficult to keep these good backs off of the field.

Unfortunately, you know what happens when you have a healthy stable of players, they get the sense of entitlement and head out ASAP so they can go "be the man."

Then when we have an opening, ala Bhromar da fookup, or AD's injury, all of a sudden these kids are playing for bowl eligibility at Utah and BRSI State, and we need a guy to step up on the big stage. As Barry Switzer always said, "that's college kids for ya, that's college football for ya, it never changes."
