Free-agent running back Jamal Lewis plans to visit the Browns this week, possibly as early as today, now that the Ravens are actively seeking another running back to replace him, according to a source in Baltimore.

FWIW.... AD's mentor? Not like he realllly needs one.

I am telling you AD will be a BRONCO!!!....

While I'm a 49er fan, I wouldn't hate it if he ended up a Bronco. The browns would be the succ. I'm sorry but I could never see myself in a browns' hat or shirt.

I don't have much time or interest in NFL, but I'd like to see AD go to the Vikings and help resurrect that program.

They were my childhood favorite team - Tarkington, Foreman, Page, Rashad, etc..

Talk about a kick in the balls!!! Man!! OK, AD is unfortunately waiting now come draft day. The only team that needs a RB is Green Bay!! I can't believe all these teams are addressing RB needs through free agency and basically passing on AD. I have no idea as to where he will end up now that J. Lewis has signed. Hmm....

And AD is not going to the Broncos because they just inked Travis Henry for big money. So AD to the Broncos is not gonna happen.

Mebbe AD is in line for a draft day tumble?

Mebbe AD is in line for a draft day tumble?Well, it certainly isn't a reflection of him but rather a reflection of a huge free agent market and Team needs. No way he doesn't go in the top ten. Still very nice.

I think there is a possibility of a tandem at RB... which has become pretty popular in the NFL. Plus, they only signed Lewis to a one-year deal. He's getting up there in age (as far as running backs go; he's been dinged up as well) and the addition of AD will keep him healthier. He could also serve as a mentor to AD. It will be interesting to see what the Browns do with Droughns in the next couple weeks.

If the Browns don't get rid of some salary cap room at running back then they won't be drafting AD...i would be very excited about this b/c it would seem as if the Texans would be in prime location to draft him at the #8 pick BUT they went and signed that old bastarrd of a has-been Green...if AD is still around at 8 and Houston passes on him i'm gonna throw a Texans jersey and hat bonfire party in the front of my lawn

I think the fact they only signed Lewis to a one year contract may be telling.

I don't know if this really tips the Browns hand in respect to their draft intentions.

I'm not sure I want AD being mentored by Jamal Lewis.

if by "mentoring" you mean "sitting on the bench and watching the next great NFL running back" then I agree.

I agree. But when it comes right down to it I think his combine numbers and his potential will be too much for someone to pass on. Whether it's Cleveland or someone trading up (now that Cleveland has a RB, they could in theory trade away the pick) to get him.

I think Cleveland still takes AD. They have signed a 28 y/o RB for 1 year. Too me it says, "You're gonna take some of the carries during AD's first year, and you are our insurance policy just in case."

to me it says, "we're gonna put you on the roster so our rookie phenom can see how NOT to lead your life, how was that jail term?"

NFL TOTAL ACCESS says Lewis signed with the Browns, but aren't sure about keeping Droughns. They owe something like 1.75 million if they don't trade him or put him on wavers.

Yahoo Sports 3rd Mock Draft still has AD going to Cleveland...however this is datelined 3/7/07, so I don't know if it takes into account the news about j. Lewis:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=jm-mockdraft030707&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

3. Cleveland Browns (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/cle/) – Adrian Peterson (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6134/), running back, Oklahoma. Adding a playmaker of this type makes a whole lot of sense considering the money they spent on guard Eric Steinbach (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6369/). Although they still need to address their defensive line, an impact guy like Peterson is too much to pass on. It would be very interesting to see what would happen if the Raiders take Brady Quinn because Browns general manager Phil Savage has known and followed the career of fellow Mobile, Ala., native JaMarcus Russell for nearly his entire life.

apparently Lewis doesn't think the browns are taking AD @ #3...SI quoted Lewis saying he would be surprised if they took AD and that "They can spend that money somewhere else"...but who knows, this guy could be talking out of his ***...

lol that would be interesting, a convicted drug felon mentoring a Sooner. AD would take that job the first day he was drafted.

AD's going #1, screw the nfl, I could care less, but that #1 draft pick looks good for OUr program.

On the other hand, it is Al Davis, he'll probably trade is pick for some backup QB just because he's old and lost his mind.

Droughns just got traded to the Giants. The Browns now have one 28 y/o RB who signed a 1 year deal. Looks like they'll take peterson.

HAHAHA :D AD went from possibly having to wait to hear his name called in the first round to almost a for sure top 5 pick in the first round all in one weeks time!!! :D Thats the NFL for you though i suppose.
