A second inning homer by UCR has them ahead 1-0 over the Sooners, who just got out of a jam by getting a ground out with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

I know that not a soul is watching this as I post but I am hoping some of you who might actaully be interested will check it out and learn a bit about this year's Sooner Baseball team.

SleestakSooner

Williams moves over to thrid base on a passed ball and then Ivey bunts to the pitcher and brings in the run with a nice sac bunt.

Keep me updated. I just left the game and now got back to my apartment. Cold as balls and the seats are like setting on an ice cube.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 05:40 PM
Something tells me these Cali boys don't play so well in cold weather.

Something tells me these Cali boys don't play so well in cold weather.

You are forgetting they can't play in clean air.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 05:46 PM
Mottern gave up a two out walk and came back to strike the next batter out swinging!

OU at bat now with Reza at the plate bottom of the fifth.

SleestakSooner

three up three down for OU and UCR is back at bat in the top of the 6th.

3/3/2007, 06:04 PM
They're pitcher seemed horrible today. He couldn't throw strikes to first, much less home plate today.

It was 3-1 when I left.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 06:09 PM
Bottom of 6th now and after Shepherd draws a walk on 4 straight balls he is sitting at first with no outs.

SleestakSooner

two others hit by a pitch and a sac bunt give the Sooners another run. Score now OU 4 UCR 1 with the Sooners still at bat, bases loaded with one out.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 06:23 PM
hmmm Joe Dunnigan hits a pop fly to center field but it is not deep enough to score Jackson Williams from third. Bases still juiced with Reza coming to the plate.

Yeah tomorrow at 1 I think.

Ardmore_Sooner
3/3/2007, 06:48 PM
Still no outs?

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 06:51 PM
Good grief... ok after Zach Sawyer totally scaring the **** out of me he was pulled for Nich Conaway, who buckled down and struck out three in a row to get out of the bases loaded jam!

Sooners up 2-7 at the stretch.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 06:55 PM
Williamson walks to give the Sooners another leadoff runner then the UCR pitcher throws it away trying to keep him on base and Williamson moves to third with no outs.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 06:59 PM
Jarod Freeman pulls a liner down third and brings Williamson in for a 9-2 lead.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 07:13 PM
Williams and Freeman score unearned runs after another UCR error and OU goes up 11-2.

Top of the eighth now and Conaway has already gotten two batters to stike out swinging.

SleestakSooner

Into the ninth inning now, the OU bench is in mostly and Garrett Richards is on the mound to close this one out.

Thanks for the updates!

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 07:30 PM
A pop up, a walk and a single to center field has UCR with one out and runners at first and second.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 07:32 PM
Thanks for the updates!

No problem, I made a mistake earlier on the pitcher that gave up all those walks, it was Sawyer and not Conaway. I edited the posts but in case you guys had already read that part, Conaway came in and saved the Sooners when Sawyer couldn't hit the side of a barn.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 07:34 PM
Now two outs with runners at second and third. One out away from a second raping of a top 20 team.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 07:37 PM
Crap I spoke too soon! Just as I was typing that last post UCR's Samuelson smacked a three-run homer down the right field line.

Next batter up promptly grounded out to the SS and the Sooners win it by the score of 11-5.

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 07:42 PM
After starting out the season 2-4 the Sooners have now won six straight to improve their record to 8-4 and have now put themselves in position to sweep a top twenty team at home when the three game series with California Riverside concludes Sunday afternoon. The game is due to start at 1 pm.

Ardmore_Sooner

What poll are they in the top 20?

SleestakSooner
3/3/2007, 11:54 PM
What poll are they in the top 20?

Good question. They are now 10-5 and have a lower RPI than OU does according to http://www.warrennolan.com/baseball/2007/rpi

Sooner Sports (http://www.soonersports.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPID=201&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=300&SPSID=2715&SPORT_TAB_SEL=03) were the ones that had UC Riverside listed as ranked 20th. I am not sure where they got that.

The best website to use for rankings and scores is ncaa-baseball.com . they didn't have them ranked in any of the polls I could find, but ya never know.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 12:12 AM
Looks like Rivals has them ranked 27th.

SleestakSooner

OK I managed to get the live updates on the PC here and it shows that we are all tied up 1-1 going in to the 7th inning.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:13 PM
Latest update shows OU up at bat in the bottom of 7th, one out and Ivey on first after a one-out single.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:19 PM
Heath Taylor has gone the distance so far for the Sooners. The only score was unearned in the first after Taylor gave up a lead-off double and then threw the ball away when the runner tried to steal third. Since then he has settled in and pitched a very nice game.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:22 PM
In the 5th inning the Sooners manufactured a run after Davis was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a fielder's choice. Reza came up to bat with two outs and lined a single to the gap in right for an rbi and the Sooners only score.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:25 PM
Quite the pitcher's duel today as both Runzler and Taylor have gone the distance.

Taylor now has two out in the top of the 8th.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:30 PM
Three up and three down for Taylor and the Sooners come to bat in the bottom of the 8th now.

Baker up first gets underneath one and is out on a pop up to the 2nd baseman.

Joseph Hughes singles to right to put a runner on first with one out.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:31 PM
Then he is caught stealing 2nd... :(

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:32 PM
Devin Shepherd grounded out to second and the 8th inning ends with the game still knotted at 1-1.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:33 PM
Right now the Sooners have 6 hits and one error, while UCR has seven hits and no errors going into the ninth inning.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:41 PM
OK once again, due to this stat tracker not giving complete pitching info, I have erred on who was pitching when. It seems that OU's starting pitcher was not Taylor but instead Brad Burns. Burns had the error in the first and pitched 5.1 innings. Taylor came on in the 6th after Burns hit the lead off batter.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:42 PM
After giving up a one out walk Taylor retires the side and the Sooners are up at bat in the bottom of the ninth with the score still tied 1-1.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:49 PM
Jackson Williams draws a lead-off walk and Cory Williamson sac bunts to the pitcher Runzler moving Williams to 2nd with one out and Aaron Ivey at the plate.

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 04:53 PM
One strike to Ivey and Live Stats seems to have frozen up.

but like I said it seems to have frozen up, not sure if it is the library's system here causing it or if it is the XOS Live Stats.

Anyone out there know what is happening?

SleestakSooner
3/4/2007, 05:24 PM
Ahhhh FINALLY!

OK it looks like Ivey hit a game winning rbi single to left center and the Sooners win again!

Final score OU 2 UCR 1

Sooners sweep UC Riverside.

I love the fact that we won with some spirit and heart. They had a real up and down type of game and I think they pulled it off because as a team they were all up and down cheering for each other and actually excited for the chance to win. Thats all you can ask for and with their confidence they can go far.

I knew Sonny Galloway would be a good hire. I never understood hiring the Shocker coach awhile back.
