My Brother and I just took my 79 year old Father to see Robert Randolph at the Cains the other night. Randolf was fantastic IMO. My Father hadn't been to the Cains since 1963 and Bob Wills was the headliner that night. The other night Randolf got about 50-60 women up on stage with him to shake their booty while he ROFY. Every guy there was going insane. This one guy kept trying to get by the security guard at stage left and finally the security guy got distracted and the idiot slipped past him and was headed for the stage. The Head of Security came out of nowhere and put the guy in a headlock and the other guy quickly helped get the guy under control and headed for the exit. As my Father has a pacemaker and had a quadruple by-pass two years ago and a stroke two months ago...I was somewhat worried that might have upset him, so I leaned over and asked him if he was "OK". His response was and I quote..."Just like 1963...nothing has changed much."

He cracks me up.

A night I will always remember.

Music History Note: The Sex Pistols only played seven gigs total in the U.S.A. before they dis-banded. The Cains Ballroom was one of them.

That's a fact. I was in HS when they came to Town.

Everybody was either crazy about seeing them or ready to go down there and protest Johnny Rotten.

Crazy times.

I just wish Paul Thorne would play a gig within 200 miles of us.
