So next week I have a phone interview with a company out of Denver. Now I know this is far from being offered a job up there but from those that live or have lived in the area what can you tell me about it? I have heard cost of living there is crazy. How so compared to OK? Only been through Denver once last year during field camp. I have people in OK looking at me but for some reason I'm thinking about getting away for a while.

Housing is much more expensive unless you want to live in the slums, and then it's still more expensive.

Not sure about gas prices
vehicle registration and taxes are a little higher, but not that much. You do have to have your car inspected, but it's only every other year.

here's where I lived when I lived there. www.lowrynorth.com It's about 8 miles from downtown, just a few blocks from Aurora. The Lowry area is pretty cool but the downtown is awesome.
It's an awesome town but the denziens that call it home left a little to be desired.

Yeah, although it seems like nobody is from Denver. The jackholes from the upper-midwest don't do anything to help out either.

As to the cost of living, I am in Albuquerque. Pay scales here are a bit low, but not bottom of the barrel. Friend of mine has a brother who drives for Fed-Ex or UPS or one of those. He was doing that in Albq for $9 and change per hour. He transferred to Denver doing the same job for the same company and makes $18 and change.

Maybe so, but Albuquerque > Denver.

it's more expensive than OK by a bunch, most places are....but I like Denver a lot. i've been all over Boston, Nashville, SF....and if could live anywhere it would either be Denver or Norman.

I have lived in Colorado for 20 years and we like to complain about the people and stuff like that but then when you travel and go someplace else man you really miss Colorado. Clean air for the most part, lots to do, and the Mountains

We did lead the nation last year in forclosures so there is plenty of homes on the market.

Gas about anywhere from $2.15-$2.35 depending on what you put in.

How about the summers? I understand there is not as much humidity as in OK but does it get just as warm?

It gets pretty warm but the shade is actually cool unlike OK where you can't escape it.

not as hot as OK in July and August. generally, cools down at night. dry climate...almost no mosquitos. however, finding a good burger and fries is not always a guarantee...or BBQ. with the exception of birddogbbq's joint down in the Springs, I'm quite certain. :D
