Now if we could just balance the budget and reduce spending at a comparable rate to the tax cuts then I'd be pleased.

I've actually heard this is a bad thing, basically because we're one of the only countries in the world that has the ability to pay equal value of what we trade for.

I detect the fallacy that tax cuts reduce revenue. The Reagan years had huge tax cuts and nearly doubled revenue.:) The congress also spent all of it. :mad:

I know tax cuts don't reduce revenue, but that doesn't mean that tax cuts shouldn't be coupled with equal cuts in spending.

You take out the SS surplus and that 170 billion deficit becomes a 300-400 billion deficit. Still a long way to go.
