I think the North really dropped the ball when they didn't salt the earth in the South whilst conquering it. I think that would have reinforced the lesson.

Robert E Lee and Jefferson Davis are just dead.

Yes, but the difference is that two of those are unfortunate and one is not.

Are dead traitors ever unfortunate?

Wrong. My wife doesn't allow me to carry more than $10...all in ones. It comes in handy with vending machines and titty bars.

You don't have any Confederate money? You should because it's only a matter of time with the way that Congress runs up deficitis that the Confederate stuff will be worth as much as its modern day Union counterpart.

As is slavery

That's a laugh. Just give the Democrats a few more years of controlling Congress. You're already a slave for almost 1/2 of the year(that's how long it takes you to work off your local, state and federal tax bill.) I guess it is a voluntary slavery since you can always just quit and live off the taxpayers' dime.

you didnt really just compare paying taxes to actual slavery did you?

No, I compared paying exhorbitant taxes to slavery. I think there was a little bit about this very subject pertaining to the founding of this country and the Declaration of Independence.....or maybe our Founding Father's fought the Revolutionary War just for kicks and grins.

But of course since there are now far more feeders at the federal trough than contributors there is absolutely no chance that the feeders will keep voting themselves more federal slop from the shrinking segment of contributors.......right?

look, i wont disagree with you on the number of feeders vs contributors and the whole tax issue....at least not in principle, but i think its in bad taste to compare it to actual slavery

thats just me

I didn't figure you for the PC type.

Perhaps you would prefer the term indentured servant or serf.

Define "the man". If you mean the fulminantly burgeoning, faceless, beaurocratic federal government then I would agree that I am not a big fan of that entity.

If you have kids, or plan to have kids, you should probably give a little more thought about the direction this country is headed.

Here's a little hint: look at where Europe was 20 years ago and look at where it is today. The United States is about 20 years behind Europe in terms of economic and social decline.

I believe this is the first time we've seen the phrase 'fulminantly burgeoning' used on SoonerFans.com. At least in a not dirty way.
